The Google Pixel 4 phones are available for customers since October 2019. These phones come with best processor, highest quality camera, and other features which are not available in the older Pixel phones. Although these newest phones have strong specs, it doesn’t mean that these are the perfect flagships you can go for.
You will certainly find Google Pixel 4 and 4XL being the phones with top performance capabilities, you may want to upgrade to something even better.
From the perspective of specs, both Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL are aligned with the other flagships released in 2019. A Snapdragon 855 processor chipset and a 6GB RAM give these phones the ability to run processor intensive tasks quite smoothly. The feature that makes Pixel phones better than most of the other flagships available is the camera setup. Google has kept this tradition while developing the Pixel 4 series phones. The camera setup is capable of taking amazing still shots and recording reasonably high quality videos. The camera function is boosted with a telephoto lens that allows you to take photos with 2X optical zoom.
The newly added features of Google Pixel 4 and 4XL include a motion sense and Face unlock. The addition of Face unlock is made at the cost of rear fingerprint scanner. This face unlocking mechanism uses a 3D camera which ensured a secure facial recognition. With the help of motion sense, you can perform certain actions on your phone without touching the screen. The phone’s night mode is an amazing feature. You can take stunning photos of the objects in low light. Another feature related to the photography is astrophotography which allows you to take high quality star-lit photos.
From the perspective design, Pixel 4 is a great phone but it cannot be called exactly an improvement over Pixel 3. But if you do not like a notch on the screen or you love to have a square camera bump on the back, Pixel 4 is definitely the phone for you. One of the major deficiencies of Pixel 4 is its small battery unit. Pixel 4 comes with a 2,800mAh, while Pixel 4XL is equipped with a 3,700mAh battery unit; and both of the battery units are smaller than the ones in their predecessors. Furthermore, the internal storage of Pixel 4 phones is not extendable.
Since Pixel 4 series phones are the newer flagships, they surely carry some specs which are not present in the Pixel 3 series phones. For instance, Pixel 3 series phones do not have dual lens camera setup on the back side. There is no motion sense or Face unlock. The display comes with a normal 60Hz screen as compared to Pixel 4 which has a 90Hz screen.
Pixel 3 phones come with a fingerprint scanner which has been replaced with a Face unlock in Pixel 4 Phones. Moreover, there is a dual selfie camera in the front of Pixel 3 phones. Both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL have bigger battery units as compared to their successors.
Google Pixel 4 phones certainly come with hefty specs which include the ones that are not present in their predecessors. But if you are not concerned about a dual camera setup or you do not care whether you have a fingerprint scanner or a Face unlock feature, not upgrading to Pixel 4 from Pixel 3 is your best bet. The thing is you still get great performance from a Pixel 3 phone if you are not a power user or a photography enthusiast. Pixel 3 may have the single lens camera setup on the back site but it is still quite capable of taking high quality shots.
With the launch of Pixel 4 by Google, it seems that the company is all set to make a competitive entry into the world of smartphones even though the specs of Pixel 4 do not look as promising as the ones the other flagships are equipped with. But what’s more important to note here is that Google has shown great prospects of challenging the tech giants such as Apple and Samsung.
Even the Pixel 4 comes with certain great specs that have started debates within the tech circles. For instance, the dual camera setup of Google Pixel 4 is capable of taking photos that can be regarded as the best shots a smartphone camera can take. And of course other specs are aligned with the flagship standards of 2019. The starting price of Pixel 4 is $800. In contrast, the iPhone 11’s price starts at $700, while iPhone 11 Pro can be purchased at $1,000.
Google has a vision for the future of smartphones, and it has made a statement about it with Pixel 4. New motion sensors and a deeper integration of Google Assistant in the Pixel 4 tell about the company’s approach towards bringing more intelligence into its future products.
Google Pixel 4 is basically a result of the company's "Made by Google" initiative which was introduced in 2016. This initiative can be seen as the Google’s push into the world of hardware.
In this article, we are going to share a shot comparison between Pixel 4 and iPhone 11 & 11 Pro.
Camera is the highlighted feature in the phones from both companies. Pixel 4, iPhone 11, and iPhone 11 Pro are the phones that have been equipped with the capability to take high quality shots in different circumstances, including low light.
Here is a quick look at camera specs.
Google Pixel 4 comes with two cameras on the backside. One of the cameras is a 16MP standard lens while the second one is a telephoto 12.2MP lens.
Apple iPhone 11 also has two lenses in the back. Both are 12MP sensors. One of the lenses is a wide-angle standard sensor, while the second one is an ultra-wide lens which is capable of covering 120-degree field of view.
Apple iPhone 11 Pro comes with a triple camera setup including same two lenses, which are present in iPhone 11, along with another 12MP telephoto tens.
Google Pixel 4, however, comes with some amazing software based upgrades that make photography truly sensational. The HDR+ running in the real time and night mode of Pixel 4 are exceptional. Another extension of night mode in this phone is the astrophotography which lets you late star-lit photos.
Smartphones from both Apple and Google come with different screen sizes but Apple has more variety to offer.
Phones in the iPhone 11 series come in the following sizes.
On the other hand, Pixel 4 phones come in the following sizes.
Google’s both phones have OLED Panels, while the Apple’s iPhone 11 comes with an LCD panel. The other two phones, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, come with OLED panels.
You can get the latest phones from both Apple and Google unlocked as soon as you see the front of the phones. However, Google Pixel 4 claims to have fastest face unlock mechanism, and for a good reason.
Google has leveraged Soli technology in Pixel 4. This technology uses radar which senses its surrounding. Another feature that this radar has to offer is the support to your gestures for doing a number of tasks.
Apple seems to have followed an innovative approach when it comes to the color of their smartphones. Both iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have four color variants each, while iPhone 11 has 6 color variants. There is not much changed in terms of design. The fronts of all three phones remain unchanged from those of their predecessors. A notch in the screen houses a selfie cam and a number of other sensors.
On the other hand, Pixel 4 is quite a changed phone as compared to its predecessor, Pixel 3. The latest Pixel phone has a ‘forehead’ instead of a notch. This forehead houses a selfie camera and all of the other sensors mentioned above.
There are three color variants of Pixel 4 available. Two of them have a matte finished on the back while the black colored variant is glossy.
Another interesting thing about the design of Pixel 4’s backside is that it is much like iPhone 11’s back due to a square camera bump. But the alignment of cameras is different.
