Título:

On Smale's problem #12.

Resumo:

The centralizer of a flow is the set of flows that commute with the original one. In the year 2000, Smale proposed a list of problems 'for the next century', among them a problem on the triviality of the centralizer in dynamical systems: does a "typical" dynamical system have trivial centralizer? This question was raised over the general idea that typical dynamical systems should not present non-trivial symmetries. We will present some recent contributions in joint works with Wescley Bonomo (UFES) and Jorge Rocha (Univ. Porto).
