D&D: Pirates

This was written on April 19, 2025, with the help of Trinity, Jackson, and Haven. Information is relevant to Jax.

=== AXEL'S HOUSE

-- Axel is at HER ROOM

-- Caelum is at MUSIC ROOM

-- Jax is at KITCHEN (hungry)

-- Axel's mom is in the BASEMENT, doing the laundry

- Axel wakes up suddenly thinking were late

- Caelum is listening to classical music in the MUSIC ROOM

- Axel runs to Caelum in the MUSIC ROOM

- Axel taps Caelum on his shoulder. He turns around and looks at Axel

A: "Umm"

C: "What do you want, Axel?" 

A: "Umm, so- i forgot, honestly" 

- Axel stares at Caelum, trying to remember

A: "Oh yeah!" 

- Axel starts to ramble about how she overslept and how were supposed to be heading out soon. Shes babbling in British and Caelum is trying his hardest to understand

- Caelum grabs Axel on the shoulder and tells her to calm down

- Axel looks up at Caelum (because he's taller than her) with big green eyes, slightly shocked

- Caelum attempts to rizz up Axel and miserably fails. She looks at him like he's crazy

A: "What did you just say? Why are you touching me?" *laughs*

- Caelum is stuttering

C: "Uhh-" 

A: "Its alright, mate. Its alright" 

- She pats Caelum's head

- They stay in awkward silence for a few minutes

- Axel stops by the KITCHEN

- Jax is looking in the bottom drawer cabinet looking for snacks

A: "Oi! Jax!"

- Jax jumps, startled, and looks at Axel, surprised. He has food hanging out his mouth

- Axel walks closer to Jax

A: "What are you doing?"

J: "Nothing"

A: "Are ye lying?"

J: "No"

A: "What's hanging out your mouth?"

J: "Nothing" 

- Axel explains how we are late and how we should go but shes gonna go talk to her mom first

- Axel tells Jax to get his stuff. She mentions Caelum and makes an awkward facial expression

- Axel's mother walks into the kitchen, holding freshly washed clothes

- Axel politely takes the clothes

AM: "I hope you have a nice adventure. I will miss you"

A: "I know mum. I will miss you too, and I'm sorry, I know how hard this will be"

AM: "Stay safe, make sure you take care of yourself and your friends"

- Axel's mother hands Axel the clothes and exits the KITCHEN

- Axel is holding a basket of clothes. She turns to Jax

A: "I can't believe she's finally nice about the adventure. Ever since dad passed, you know how she's been. She's just been so mad about it all." 

- Jax nods, and Axel awkwardly nods back

A: "Oi mum, where do you want me to put this stuff?"

AM: "Assuming youll need clothes for the adventure you can take it with you"

A: "Is it just for one person or is it for all of us?"

AM: "Its for all of you, its a mix"

A:" Alright, I'll sort through it then"

- Axel sorts and folds the laundry

-- Six outfits for Axel

-- Six outfits for Jax (theres fur on the clothes)

-- Three outfits for Caelum

- Axel walks to Jax's small room and gives him his clothes

A: "There you go, freshly cleaned" 

J: "Thank you" (in a british accent)

A: "You're welcome, and dont mock me accent" 

- Axel puts Caelum's clothes on his bed, and then she goes to her room

- Axel messily throws her stuff in her bags and she holds her dad's hat

- Caelum is pale and flushed, sitting in the MUSIC ROOM, ashamed

- Jax walks into the music room, and he sees Caelum flushed

J: "Uhh, hey are you okay?" 

C: "Yeah im okay-"

J: "Okay good, um-" 

- Jax stands there awkwardly

- Axel walks in, sees Caelum, and looks down at her feet immediately

A: "I put your stuff in- on your bed" 

- Caelum leaves the MUSIC ROOM to get his stuff

- Axel and Jax make awkward eye contact

- Axel tries to give Jax a knowing look but Jax does not properly read the room

- Axel pulls out a map and sets it where Caelum was sitting

A: "Do yall have anywhere yall wanna go?"

- Jax shrugs

C: "I dunno where to go, im just looking for things about my past" 

- Caelum looks angsty and sad

A: "How about we just go off in a random direction, and wherever we end up we end up"

J: "Yea sure, hell yeah" 

C: "sure..." 

A: "I guess if yall are ready, we should get going before it gets too dark" 

- We go to the lounge. Axel's mother is sitting on the sofa looking at the fire, knitting

AM: "So, is your little fantasy of going to sail the seven seas like your father, is that over with? because I need you to tend to the garden" 

A: "Mom im going away for awhile." 

AM: "Oh so youre serious about this childish dream"

A: "its not a childish dream"

AM: "my child, your father chased this same dream and look where he ended up"

A: "he died in battle mum"

AM: "yes i know and id rather not have my only child die like their father did. i want you to grow up in a happy life and not die tragically in a silly battle"

A: "its not tragic if its honorable"

AM: "...listen. listen. i understand that youre an adult now, but, this is a childish dream! no matter how you put it, its childish."

AM: "i supported you throughout your time, but this is going too far"

A: "mum nothing you say will change me, my opinion, or what ill do. either you say bye now or you wont be able to in awhile"

A: "and please dont let our last conversation be an argument because we've had enough of those"

AM: "well if youre adamant about this, id rather not face you ever again."

- Axel nods

A: "alright mum"

AM: "goodbye"

A: "bye"

- Axel goes to her room and gets her things

- Caelum gets on one knee and holds Axel's mom's hand

C: "i know youre scared for her and youre worried but i promise ill protect her from the bottom of my heart"

- Caelum gets up and walks away

- Jax waves awkwardly at axel's mom and follows Caelum

-- We all get our stuff and walk to the door

A: "Alright lets get this ship on the road then!" 

- Axel walks out quickly

- Caelum puts his hand on Axel's lower back

C: "are you okay?" 

- Axel nods and shrugs a bit, she doesnt really say anything and she keeps walking

- Jax follows closely

=== TIDEHAVEN (Population 270)

- Axel has a smile on her face, excitedly. She is excited to get going

- We walk thoughout the village of Tidehaven, we wave goodbye to our neighbors, friends and family

- A five year old child runs up and asks jax

Child: "CAN I PET YOU???"

- Jax looks at the others for help

J: "S- sure?"

- Jax gets lower so the child can pet him. the small child softly pets jax, and then runs away giggling

- Jax gets up and he looks awkward

-- After a couple of minutes, we arrive to the docks

C: "Oddly enough, im going to miss this place" 

A: "Its never been going for anything but fishing and you know it" 

- Jax laughs

- Two men walk up to us, with deep grumbling voices

?1: "So you must be Axel, the widowed mother's child"

A: "The daughter of James Dowson" 

?1: "Yes, the daughter of James Dowson. The only pirate that has ever come out of this crummy town."

A: "Man, i know. it really sucks here"

?1: "you can say that again"

?2: "so, what makes you think youll be ready to sail the seven seas?"

A: "with all due respect sir, its not really any of your business and i dont think we should be having this conversation right now"

?1: "well yeah but thats the thing little missy, this is our dock and we can say who can enter and who cannot"

?2: "so, it is our business"

A: "ive trained my whole life for this, please dont make this harder than it is already"

?1: "i guess we dont have to but we are going to say, watch your back."

A: "are you telling me this because you dont think ill be able to be a captain? "

?2: yeah. we all heard about what happened to your father and how he died. He died at seas fighting other pirates"

- With that, Axel visibly gets upset"

C: "Listen, who do you guys think you are anyway??"

?1: "as we said, were the owners of this dock"

C: "What makes you think you can control where we go"

?1: "because we own the dock thats why"

- Axel looks at them and puts her captain hat on, angrily

A: "If youll excuse us, were going on MY ship that I own, and were going to leave this shithole"

?1: "well thats gonna cost you"

A: "excuse me?"

?1: "yeah its gonna cost you. five silver pieces"

- Caelum punches the second guard, causing him to stumble back

?2: "You little shit."

?1: "well now you have two options. either you pay up one piece of gold, or you go through us"

A: "you know what here."

- Axel tosses a gold coin at them and pushes past them

- Jax watches the gold piece as it goes through the air

- The guards stumble back into the water as the gold piece hit the sand

- Jax and Caelum follows Axel onto the dock

-- We get on the ship and we start to set sail.

=== THE SHIP

- We bring down the sails and we take off in the wind

- We turn back and look at Tidehaven slowly disappearing in the horizon

- Jax is shaking because he is afraid of water 

- Axel is at the figurehead

- Caelum is caeluming 

- Axel goes to the front of the ship and breathes in the weirdly comforting aroma of the sea

- Caelum walks over to Jax

C: "It was a kinda stupid idea for you to become a pirate if youre this scared of water" 

- Jax laughs 

J: "Yea I don't really know why I did this" 

C: "So if you're so scared of water, do you ever shower?"

J: "Yes i shower!"

C: "You don't smell like it" 

- Jax gasps, knowing hes probably joking

- Axel is at the front of the ship, taking everything in

- Jax is at the starboard side of the ship, hanging over it, seasick (stunned & exhausted)

- Caelum is caeluming (sitting down and reading a book)

-- Axel sees dark clouds ahead of us. As the sky turns dark, she sees we have ran into a stormcloud

- Axel runs back to the steering wheel, calling out telling everyone theres a storm ahead

- After twelve hours of constant pouring rain (Jax is hiding inside the ship) the sky clears up again. 

-- It is now NOON

- We see some land ahead 

- Its around night time when we arrive at the island, but something feels off about it

- There is black smoke coming from somewhere on the island

- Axel yells out to Caelum to come to her

C: "Okay im coming!"

A: "I beg your pardon?" 

C: "What do you mean you beg my pardon?" 

A: "You said you were coming? N- NEvermind nevermind, do you see this?" 

- They look at the black smoke

- Jax approaches slowly behind Axel and Caelum

A: "Do yall see that too or am i imagining it?"

J: "I see it, you're not crazy"

- Caelum not only sees the black smoke, but he notices the island is kind of on fire"

C: "I don't think we should explore this one"

A: "you think we should just leave it be?"

C: "yeah i do, we'll burn our feet"

A: "Alright, um... lets sail the other way and avoid it, i guess"

- The ship doesnt turn

A: "Caelum come help me turn the ship" 

- Caelum helps Axel turn the ship, but the ship still heads toward the island at an angle

- Axel tries turning the ship but she slips off the steering wheel and falls

- Axel stands back up, dusts herself off, and then looks at Jax and Caelum

- Axel tries turning the ship again. the ship is now narrowly turning close to the island

- Axel asks the others to help her turn the ship

C: "Anything for you" 

- Jax is noticing

- We manage to turn the ship away from the island sucessfully

- Axel smiles and thanks the others for help

- Caelum winks

- Jax is noticing

- As we pass the island, we hear screams and burning wood from the middle of the island

- Axel covers Jax's ears so he cant hear the screaming

C: "Im so glad we managed to turn the ship" 

A: "Yeah me too" 

- The ship continues sailing until we cannot hear the screaming anymore. we can still see the island, and Axel uncovers Jax's ears

- Axel sets the wheel to a certain spot so she can walk away for a moment 

-- it is now NIGHT

- Caelum asks Axel to sing him a lullaby to sleep

- Axel sings Caelum a lullaby to go to sleep

- Jax is noticing

C: "You have a beautiful voice" 

- Caelum yawns, and Axel stops and smiles

- Axel is still humming the song until Caelum is asleep. Once he is asleep she walks up to Jax

- Caelum snores

- Axel sits down near Jax

A: "Oi"

J: "Hey"

A: "How are you feeling?"

J: "a little bit nauseous but im fine for now"

A: "thats good. are you seasick"

J: "im not sure"

A: "you got sealegs???"

J: "what does that even mean?"

A: "yeh"

- Axel playfully punches Jax's shoulder, and then looks around, then looks at Jax

A: "I cant believe were actually on the ship and on the water"

J: "yeah, same"

A: its kinda... weird. i dunno"

- Jax looks around

-- Everybody gets a good sleep. It is now MORNING

- Everybody had a nice comfortable rest. Caelum slept like a baby

- Axel wakes up to nothing but water. She smiles and takes a deep breath in

A: "OI!"

- Nobody answers. She nods and walks to the kitchen

- Axel sees Jax in the kitchen. He's looking through a cabinet

- Axel pulls Jax's tail

A: "OI!"

- Jax looks startled

J: "Hey-"

A: "oi im sorry mate i didnt mean to pull your tail"

J: "its alright"

A: "i was just tryna pull you out the cupboard- were you stuck in there?"

J: "no i was looking for something to snack on"

A: "alright well im gonna make breakfast soon. can you go wake up caelum?"

J: "yea sure"

A: "alright, hes sleeping really well"

- Jax goes to where Caelum is sleeping, so he can wake him up

- Caelum is mumbling in his sleep about something called "Athearicia"

- Jax quietly says his name to try waking Caelum up

- Caelum jump-wakes up, gasping

J: "Yo, are you okay??"

C: "I just had a dream but i can't remember what it was"

J: "Oh! um, well... Axel's making breakfast"

-- We all sit down by the table and start eating
