Vaia A. Karagianni

Director / Manager  of  VENIS  STUDIOS

Fine Art Conservator  Restorer  of  Historic  Artworks  

Vaia A. Karagianni was born in 1984 in Karditsa, Greece. She studied at the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace, and later practiced and was licensed by the Thessaloniki Bar Association in 2009. She worked as a lawyer in Thessaloniki, Greece.

In 2010, she apprenticed and worked alongside her husband Venizelos G. Gavrilakis in the conservation of works of art. In 2012, they founded "Ieri Parakatathiki Labs" for the conservation and restoration of historical artwork and antiquities, which was based in Istanbul.

In December 2022, they renamed their laboratory “VENIS STUDIOS” Karagianni is the director and manager of VENIS STUDIOS.

Karagianni undertakes the duties of editor and curator of all scientific studies, offers, and texts written by VENIS STUDIOS. Under this capacity she has published her work in the newspaper Kathimerini of Istanbul, and the international scientific journal Conservation of Works of Art (IIC). She authored the presentation delivered at the Zografeion Lyceum of Istanbul, and the one delivered at the Department of Conservation of Artwork of Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts "The deworming on Icons panels"  Karagianni is also the editor of the VENIS STUDIOS blog "Peri Sintirisis o Logos."

Karagianni is responsible for the photographic documentation and recording of historical relics and the damage they have sustained, as well as conservation and restoration reports at VENIS STUDIOS
