Agnes was born to a particular bloodline of unicorns said to be descendants of the goddess Vivira herself. Her mother and father traveled the world with her, teaching her to master her magical abilities and informing her that while most unicorns only guarded a forest or two local to their place of birth, they were tasked with guarding the many different lands of the world. Her youth was full of cautious exploration of forests, swamps, mountains, deserts, bogs, and islands of all kinds. Her father raised her to be kind and fair and wise. He taught her everything he could, including how to fight. Unfortunately, she still had more to learn when her family was torn apart during the Ancients war. Her mother had convinced them to join other Mythics in learning to coexist with humans and was killed in the fight. Agnes and her father tried to flee but only she got away. She returned to their home in the forest and waited for him, hoping he would come back. Days, weeks, months went by with no sign of him. Eventually, her forest was burned to the ground and she was forced to flee. Agnes was able to fend for herself and so spent the next few thousand years in hiding. She developed a fear and a spite of humans on account of the fact that she was still routinely hunted whenever she was spotted. As the incidents became lesser and lesser, Agnes remained in isolation.
Eventually, her perspective began to change when she witnessed humans occasionally going into the woods to release trapped or rehabilitated animals, plants and tending to trees, and living peacefully among nature. She chanced revealing herself to children that got lost in the woods and would lead them back home safely. She even showed herself to adults on occasion, and after realizing that there were many kind and good people in the world, she began to mend her attitude towards humans, though she remained wary. Her travels throughout life have allowed her to make many friends, especially among other Guardians. She’s come to know dragons and witches and other immortals aplenty. She even met other unicorns, but she never saw her father among them.
When the Mythic War erupted, Agnes did her best to aid from the shadows. She would guard her forests fiercely and defend those that came to her seeking shelter. She would put out fires and disable human weapons to prevent them from destroying land whenever she could. There were rumors that once she voted someone and while she did have the opportunity to, Agnes does not have the heart to fight, much less kill. She let the man go after healing him and told him never to return. That was enough to stop the humans and allow her to hold her ground in the fight. After the war ended, she returned to her seclusion but she noticed that the number of guardians and other creatures had been significantly reduced. She never saw another unicorn again after the war. Not in one piece anyway. She remained good friends with Amalgamate, Fritjolf, and Octavia. As she was on her journey, she also found a long Pegasus. He was a newborn that had been left in the brush— an orphan of the war. Agnes was unsure of what to do, but she ended up taking the little Pegasus under her wing as her own son. She named him Soren and has been raising him ever since.
Agnes still walks the world, healing it where it is wounded and helping it thrive where possible. Soren casionally travels with her but being that he is still so young, she often leaves him in the care of a trusted friend whenever she must travel far. She cares very deeply for her foal and will do anything to protect him.
Agnes is the very embodiment of her kind’s nature. Calm, quiet, and reserved, she emanates an air of wisdom and power far beyond what many are able to present. Even by unicorn standards, she is considered a rarity. There is no confirmation that she holds any actual descendancy from the goddess but potent magic runs in her bloodline. Her power is far beyond anything most other families of her kind possessed prior to their extinction. Even despite this power, she insists on using it only to help and do good. She avoids conflict as much as she can and tends to be very wary of strangers entering her woods. She’s not shy by any means though. Conversation comes naturally to her and no matter where she goes, she retains an oddly enigmatic aura about her. With an exterior so cool, many regard her as unapproachable or unempathetic when nothing could be further from the truth.
Beyond the resting apathetic expression so cordially gifted to her by her species, Agnes is a truly kind, selfless, and compassionate being. Though her trust has grown tentative from what she has lived through, her desire to help others has not been curtailed in any way. She will gladly wander alongside someone in their efforts to do good and will follow a soul pleading for help back to the source of their anguish in hopes of extinguishing it. She is generous in her love for all creatures and kind beyond words. In particular, her fondness for children and her desire to dote on them in very maternal ways is exceptionally strong. She cares for the lost and broken, she does her best to mend them, and she does her best to heal the world in all the ways it has been harmed. Agnes sees herself as a beacon of guidance, wisdom, and hope. The burden weighs on her at times but she does her best to carry it with her head held high.
Like any Mythic, her deep compassion does have its limits. Agnes is a protector to her home and her foal first and foremost. She is cautious and observant, perceiving every possible threat to her and her homelands before it ever sets foot in them. Nothing happens in her environments that she doesn’t know about. Those entering the unicorn’s territory ought to be wary, for the wrath of a beast so ancient is unpredictable— or so the rumors say. While her mercy tempers her anger well, Agnes boasts a terrifying presence when she is trying to be well and truly intimidation. Her anger and disappointment stave off most. However, if the transgression is heinous enough, her horn becomes a weapon just as easily as it is a beacon of magic. Though she may not like it and may try to avoid it as much as possible, Agnes is a formidable warrior and Guardian and she will not hesitate to show it. Threaten her, her home, or her family, and she will put you in your place by word or by force. Only you can choose.

MAIN - Indie verse
Agnes travels the world, keeping nature alive and thriving. She heals the sick, tends to the wounded, and quietly hopes that she is not the last unicorn.
It is a tremendous sign of trust for Agnes to introduce someone to Soren. She is fiercely protective of her little Pegasus.
Agnes sings a lot of Mxmtoon and Cavetown and plays the ukulele. She learned how to for Soren because she found he likes acoustic music the most.
Gentle as she is, Agnes can and will defend herself. She prefers to use diplomacy rather than violence but if it comes down to it, her horn is a lethal weapon.
As a unicorn, there are several concepts and emotions Agnes can’t really understand because she’s never experienced them. She can’t understand or feel regret. As an immortal, she was taught early on that her life is too long to have regrets. She simply has to accept that things happen and act on information for the future because she cannot hold onto past actions or experiences. She also does not fully understand the concept of love or romance because unicorns are a very solitary species. Most live alone and even raise their young alone. Her parents were a rare exception but they were separated before she learned that lesson in her life. Agnes can’t understand unfounded anger or hatred either. She used to be unaware of what fear and emotional pain felt like but she learned that very quickly.
Agnes is well versed in spells, alchemy, enchants, curses, and potion-making. She doesn’t practice most of these skills regularly, but she does know all about them.
Agnes is the last unicorn as far as she knows. She has not seen a living unicorn in so long and has been told many times that she is very likely the last. This does not mean other unicorns do not exist though.
Agnes coexists peacefully with residents of the forest and can speak with animals.
Agnes is still haunted by some of the things she saw during the war. She witnessed unspeakable and horrific acts of cruelty against many Mythics, including her own kind. She doesn’t like thinking about them too often but she often wakes up startled by the memories.
Agnes’ insomnia means that she’ll often wake up and be unable to go back to sleep for a time. This is usually when she goes on walks to try and calm/tire herself.
While it’s difficult to sneak up on her, Agnes spooks at sudden sounds or movements towards her. She’ll run off or rear back and whinny loudly, and it can be quite difficult to calm her.
Agnes loves offering nuzzles and “unicorn kisses” to those she is close to.
Trying to sneak up behind Agnes is a great way to earn a swift kick in the face.
General Unicorn Headcanons
Agnes herself is a Universal unicorn. She can thrive in any environment and any environment can thrive around her. Her powers aren’t linked to any one specific biome and she’ll continue growing in strength the older she gets and the more magic and spells she studies.
Agnes has largely come to terms with what’s happened to her species and she doesn’t hold it against humans the way some other Mythics do. She understands that not every human is responsible for her isolation.
Agnes has a habit of locating people that get lost in blizzards and rescuing them. She’ll keep them warm and protect them and then once it’s over, she’ll leave them in a safe place and leave just before they wake up.
Agnes loves the rain. She’ll often just stand on top of a hill by the tree line and let it pour over her. She thinks it’s oddly refreshing and just taking a few moments to enjoy the calmness of it helps “wash away the burdens she carries”.
Agnes gets along great with other Guardians and hoofed Mythics (Gus, Holly, Lucien, etc) but she greatly dislikes Psyche. The Phoenix tends to burn her forests in places and they’re just generally at odds for being two sides of the same coin.
