Vehicle AssessmentĀ
Before renewing your license you are required by Arkansas law to assess your vehicle with your county assessor and pay all personal property taxes you owe. You are also required to maintain liability insurance on your vehicle. These requirements are automatically checked using a computer. If any of the information reflects "NO" on your vehicle registration record when you attempt to renew, you will not be able to renew by phone or internet. To renew by mail or in person you must furnish written proof of compliance for any item listed as "NO". (Written proof of compliance is a paper copy of either your personal property tax assessment for the current year, your personal property receipt for taxes due by the previous October 10th, or your vehicle liability insurance coverage).
*Motor vehicles including motorcycles and commercial trucks must be titled and registered within sixty (60) calendar days of the date of transfer or within sixty (60) calendar days of the date which a prior lien has been released.
Sales tax, registration and title fees: The state sales and use tax rate is 6.5%, 7% for Texarkana residents, of the taxable price of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers with a gross purchase price of $4000.00 or greater. Tax is computed on the total delivery price, including rebate, freight charges and extra equipment. Federal Excise Tax is not included. Extended warranties are taxable, whether or not the vehicle is taxable.
Local taxes may be due depending on your residence. Each local tax will not exceed $25.00 for each 1% of tax due. To find your local tax rate, use the Local Tax Lookup .
If you move from one county to another, you must report your change of address to the county treasurer in your former county of residence within 10 days after your move so your motor vehicle registration information can be forwarded to the county where you now live.
Iowa Code 321.18 and 321.19 allow school districts and government agencies to apply to the Iowa DOT for title and registration of school district- or agency-owned vehicles, and to receive a permanent registration certificate and registration plates for these vehicles without charge.
A vehicle is required to have a manufacturer's label attached to the vehicle, certifying that it meets all the federal safety standards, if the vehicle is to be titled and registered for use on a highway. If there is no manufacturer's label, the vehicle will not be titled or registered in Iowa.

Beginning on or after October 1, 2018, when you purchase or register a motor vehicle qualifying for the Hope Scholarship Program in Florida, you may designate $105 per vehicle to an eligible nonprofit scholarship-funding organization participating in the Program. The $225 Initial Registration Fee must be paid when the owner does not have a license plate or record of a license plate registered in their name for a vehicle he or she previously owned (in Florida), to transfer to a newly acquired vehicle. An initial registration must take place in person at a local service center at the time of titling by submitting the following;
To renew a registration via mobile app, the customer must provide the license plate or vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle they seek to register. If the department is unable to electronically verify valid insurance on the vehicle, no registration will be issued on the mobile app.

A delinquent registration fee is imposed on any customer who fails to renew registrations of motor vehicles and mobile homes beginning on the eleventh calendar day of the month succeeding the month in which the renewal registrations were due. Section 320.07(4)(a), Florida Statutes, specifically requires the delinquent fee to be imposed on any applicant who fails to renew a registration before the end of the month in which renewal registration is due.
HVUT stands for Heavy Vehicle Use Tax which is an annual federal highway tax imposed on certain heavy motor vehicles, including trucks, truck tractors, and buses using our public highways. The tax applies only to vehicles with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more. The federal government then distributes revenues back to the states for highway construction and maintenance projects.
Section 320.02(7), Florida Statutes requires motor carriers to provide proof of payment or exemption from HVUT on motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 55,000 pounds or more prior to issuance of a registration.
Maryland dealers will usually handle the titling and registration of your vehicle for you. The dealer will provide you with a bill of sale and temporary (cardboard) or permanent (metal) license plates before you drive the vehicle off the lot. The Maryland Certificate of Title will be printed and mailed to you later. If a lien is placed against your title, a Maryland Security Interest Filing will be mailed to the lien holder at the same time.
If the dealer does not handle the titling and registration of your vehicle, perhaps because you purchased the vehicle from an out-of-state dealer, you will have to submit the application documents yourself.
If the vehicle is subject to a security interest lien, a recording fee will apply. A notice of security interest filing is mailed to the lending institution or person and the title is mailed to the owner. After the lien is satisfied, the security interest document must be mailed to the owner and kept with the title. Both documents are required to sell or trade the vehicle.
A safety inspection is required for all used cars, trucks, tractors, trailers, motorcycles, special equipment, and class "B" for hire vehicles being titled and registered in Maryland. They must be inspected by a licensed Maryland inspection station, such as an automobile dealer, service station and specialized automobile service center. A certificate of inspection, issued within 90 days of the vehicle to be titled, must accompany the application for a title. Please compare the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the inspection certificate with the one on the vehicle and the vehicle ownership documents to make certain they all agree. Altered inspection certificates will not be accepted.
