This Privacy Policy describes how Vegetable Identifier: Veggie ("we," "our," or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Photos you provide for identification
We collect the photo you choose for vegetable identification. You provide this data when you take a photo with the in-app camera or select an image from your photo library, then tap "Identify" (or equivalent) to run the identification. That image is sent to a third-party AI service—Google's Gemini AI—so it can analyze the photo and return an identification result. We do not store your photos on our servers after the identification is complete. The image is processed only to generate the result and is not used to build a profile of you or for advertising.
1.2 Subscription and purchase information
If you subscribe to Premium or Boost, payment is processed through the Apple App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlement checks. RevenueCat and Apple may collect and process purchase-related data (e.g., transaction ID, subscription status) in accordance with their respective privacy policies. We do not collect or store your payment card details.
1.3 Device and usage information
The app may collect limited technical information (e.g., device type, OS version, app version) to provide the service, fix issues, and improve the app. We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- Photos: to provide vegetable identification results. Your photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI solely for analysis and identification; we do not use it for advertising, profiling, or training AI models for any other purpose.
- Subscription and purchase data: to manage your subscription and access to premium features.
- Device and usage information: to provide the service, fix issues, and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information or photos to third parties. We do not use your photos for advertising or to train AI models for purposes unrelated to providing the identification service.
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND DATA SHARING
We share data with the following third parties. Each provides the same or equal protection for user data as described in their privacy policies.
3.1 Google Gemini (AI) — third-party AI service
Photo-based identification is powered by Google's Gemini AI. When you use the identification feature, the photo you take or select is sent to Google's systems for processing so we can return an identification result to you. We share only the image necessary for that request; we do not share other personal data with Google for this purpose. Google's collection, use, and protection of data are governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy), which provides equivalent protections for user data. We do not control Google's systems; by using the identification feature, you agree that your photo may be processed by Google as described in this policy and in Google's policy.
3.2 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to handle subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat's privacy practices are described at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy and provide the same or equal protection for user data.
3.3 Apple
Purchases are processed by Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to App Store transactions (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) and provides the same or equal protection for user data.
4. DATA RETENTION
- Photos: We do not retain the photos you submit for identification after the request is processed.
- Subscription data: We retain subscription status as long as your account or subscription is active and as needed to comply with legal obligations.
5. DATA SECURITY
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit (e.g., HTTPS). We do not store your identification photos on our servers. Payment data is handled entirely by Apple and is not received or stored by us.
6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on your region, you may have the right to:
- Access or receive a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

8. INTERNATIONAL DATA
If you use the app from outside your home country, your data may be processed in the country where our service providers operate (e.g., United States). By using the app, you consent to such transfer.
