VCTC 2020

WELCOME to the Virtual Conference on Theoretical Chemistry 2020 which will take place Monday, July 27, through Wednesday, July 29, 2020, in the comfort of your home office--which may or may not resemble Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury's office above (made famous at this year's virtual NFL draft). VCTC 2020 is not intended to serve as a substitute or replacement for ACTC 2020 (which has been postponed to 2021). Instead, VCTC will bring together the theoretical chemistry community in a smaller, online forum to: 1) explore visionary outlooks on the challenges and future directions of selected subfields of theoretical chemistry; and, 2) provide opportunities for students, postdocs, and early career assistant professors to disseminate their work and to expose current faculty to promising new talent.

In furtherance of the first goal, about a half dozen faculty plenary speakers will each make a clear case for research in a particular area of theoretical chemistry--why it is important and interesting--and identify new directions where the field could or should go. And, of course, they will also discuss exciting new research in their labs.

In furtherance of the second goal, VCTC will also provide invited speaking opportunities for approximately a dozen postdoctoral scholars and early career assistant professors. These speakers will be selected via a unique and innovative competition described in the Lightning Talk tab.

All conference sessions will be held online via Zoom. Meeting links will be provided to registrants prior to the sessions.

We look forward to seeing you at VCTC 2020 (and at ACTC 2021)!
