Sex trafficking is the most prevalent form of exploitation and is a widely misunderstood, and underreported crime internationally and in the U.S.
An act of sex trafficking can be explained as any sex act in exchange for something of value such as food, clothing, or money. These sex acts can include engaging in pornography, sexual dances, pornographic photos, or prostitution (H.R. 3244, 2000).
The average age to be sexually exploited or sex trafficked ranges between 12 to 14 years of age
Studies suggest that only about 29% to 45% of sex trafficked youth are actually reported
