Purpose of vast Resource Page

The purpose of this page is to equip our community members with resources related to their specific profession. This site includes information and content which helps the members of our community to be armed with knowledge so that they can apply it in their own personal and work life.

Human Trafficking 101

  • The U.S. is a destination & transit country for trafficking

  • Among those trafficked in the U.S. 76% of them are U.S. citizens

  • Sex trafficking is the most prevalent form of exploitation and is a widely misunderstood, and underreported crime internationally and in the U.S.


An act of sex trafficking can be explained as any sex act in exchange for something of value such as food, clothing, or money. These sex acts can include engaging in pornography, sexual dances, pornographic photos, or prostitution (H.R. 3244, 2000).

  • The average age to be sexually exploited or sex trafficked ranges between 12 to 14 years of age

  • Studies suggest that only about 29% to 45% of sex trafficked youth are actually reported
