Sedric Andre Toney was a three-year starter at Wilbur Wright and a member of the 1979 Class AAA Sectional Championship Team. After not being heavily recruited out of high school, he went on to attend Phillips Junior College in Mississippi and later transferred to Western Nebraska Community College and played there for one season. While at Nebraska Western, he attracted the attention of the University of Dayton (UD) and was offered a full scholarship to play for the Flyers under legendary coach Don Donoher. He was a two-year starter for the the Flyers and was the starting point guard on the 1984 UD team that reached the NCAA Elite 8. That year the Flyers had tournament victories over LSU, Oklahoma and Washington before losing to eventual NCAA Champions (Georgetown Hoyas) in the Regional Finals. Sedric was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the 3rd Round (59th Overall Pick) of the 1985 NBA Draft and went on to play five seasons for the Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers. Following his playing career, he held several key positions throughout the NBA as a Vancouver Grizzlies Scout, New York Knicks Director of Player Personnel and with the NBA League Office as an NBA Observer. Sedric was inducted into the UD Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
