The November 17–December 1 Superstation Betta Contest was a lively beta test that blended ham radio tradition with creative gameplay, encouraged authentic QSOs, and helped refine the SUPERSTATION platform for its upcoming full production release (Version 0.1.7.5). This also helped us validate gameplay mechanics for the Superstation I contest which launches in January 2026.
The Superstation Betta Contest was designed to push amateur radio operators beyond the quick exchanges typical of contesting. Instead, it emphasized extended QSOs of at least ten minutes, combined with a playful dice-and-card mechanic that allowed participants to “build” virtual stations with antennas, radios, computers, and amplifiers. This blend of traditional ham radio with game-like elements created a unique experience that was both competitive and collaborative.
Participants in the contest will receive their own certificate listing their call sign and points scored. Certificates will be emailed to the address provided in the Cabrillo file used to submit your results.
A special thank you to all the operators who participated in the contest. Thank you to everyone who tested Superstation and provided feedback!
