Is it just me or is the epic games launcher laggy, slow and generally poorly designed? This thing has gotten so unbelievably slow that opening it is a chore. I haven't looked into it but I suspect it is built on electron which is probably half the reason it feels so slow.
If you a problem with Epic Games Launcher downloads/updates like slow downloads or making your PC crash then this might help you. After lots of research I found a solution for this problem. The reason that this happens is because of HDD, the epic games launcher will download and install at the same time and HDD is making it very slow even when your install location is not in HDD. I have two SSD and one HDD, I tried to download after disabling the HDD, the download speed spiked up to the max speed and I didn't had any issues with the download and install at the same time. So please try this if you run in to this problem.
It's insane how there can even exist such a slow fucking game store/launcher in 2021. It feels like I'm back in the 90's waiting for an internet page to load. The only reasons anyone would use Epic is because the free games, a game is cheaper there or you wanna use unreal engine. But it's honestly worth buying a game at full price than having to start Epic Games and wait for 10 fucking hours every time you wanna play it. I am very sure Epic Games is run by literal poop-eating monkeys.
I thought by now the launcher would improve a lot to try and compete with steam but honestly its disappointing to not see any potential at this time as to epic launcher performing and being an adequate launcher people want to use
I've been using the launcher since 2014 when UE4 was released. I like the offers Epic has with the mega sales and free games, but as it is now the launcher is rivaling Nintendo's eShop in who can be the slowest to load. Currently I feel Epic is winning. The other day it took me almost 1 minute to load my library. I have alright specs and only m.2 storage (1.5TB), so what's taking so long?
Is anyone else experiencing this? It's always been slow for me, on desktop/laptop, win 7/8/10/11, for almost 9 years. It's very discouraging. Download speeds are great when installing games, so why is the launcher so slow?
-Queue system sucks, for example Fortnite needs update and I need to uninstall a game why do I need to cancel the update so I can uninstall a game these two things should be separate or at the very least, let me change queue order of these tasks, there might be a way to do this but I couldn't figure it out.
-Moving a game from a disk to another is a chore why not just have an option for that, people move their games from hard drives to SSDs all the time, instead you have to backup-->uninstall-->install and wait for 2-3% progress then cancel-->overwrite with backup-->resume. That's one extra copy that's unnecessary and considering how big games are getting, it shouldn't be this way.
-Why does every new software has to look like a mobile app? I'm using the epic store on my PC, the appeal of PC GUI design is how ergonomic it is compared to other platforms but instead, they went for chromium browser look and feel where pages needs to load every time, which feels slow and not very good to use especially if you just wanna play offline. IMO they should come up with a whole new design I feel like the framework they're using is potentially hampering their progress.
-The epic launcher as far as I can remember didn't change much if at all since they started directly competing with steam, at the first I was okay with the interface since they're new to this type of business but it's been what now? 4 years? progress has been very slow on GUI front to say the least, the user experience and essential functionalities should receive a higher priority.

Epic Games Launcher is decreasing the overall quality with slow interface (loading screens) and turtle speed downloads compared to the previous year in my opinion. I've done just a little research on this - -games-launcher/ but didn't have the time yet to do several tests. 5376163bf9
