Flashlight Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 2026-05-08
1. Overview
Flashlight (the “App”) is a free app that provides flashlight functionality and screen brightness adjustment functionality. This Policy has been prepared based on the Republic of Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act and explains the matters directly processed by the app operator, as well as the use of third-party SDKs required for Google Play Data Safety submissions. Inquiries and requests regarding personal information directly processed by the app operator will be reviewed based on this Policy and the relevant laws of the Republic of Korea.
2. Information Directly Processed by the App Operator
- The App does not provide any feature for entering personally identifiable information such as name, email address, or phone number, and does not transmit such personally identifiable information to the app operator’s own servers.
- The App stores only the following settings in `AsyncStorage` on the user’s device:
- Whether the flashlight runs automatically
- Whether ads are displayed
- App language selection value
- Consent value for analytics of usage statistics and user behavior data (`analytics-consent`: `granted` or `denied`)
- The above settings are not directly accessed by the developer or transmitted externally, and may remain on the device until the user deletes the App or deletes the App’s data through the operating system settings.
3. Third-Party Advertising and Analytics Tools
- The App uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display banner ads. In the course of providing ads, Google may automatically process information such as IP address, advertising ID, app interactions, device information, and approximate location based on platform settings.
- The App includes Firebase Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for analyzing usage statistics and user behavior data. The App uses custom analytics event logging defined by the app operator and initializes Microsoft Clarity only when the user allows analytics consent in the App’s settings.
- However, the Firebase Analytics SDK may process basic app usage information, device information, automatic events, and similar data during app launch and SDK initialization. After checking the consent status, the App applies the consent or collection settings for Firebase Analytics.
- Users may allow or withdraw analytics consent in the App’s settings.
- Advertising privacy options may be provided in regions where Google UMP/AdMob requires them, such as the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or certain U.S. states subject to applicable regulations. Advertising-related choices may be changed if the relevant option is enabled in the App, and may also be changed through Google Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com/) or Android/iOS advertising settings.
- The app operator does not sell user data.
- The data processing practices of external services are governed by the policies and terms of each provider.
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google AdMob Policy: https://developers.google.com/admob/terms
- Firebase Privacy and Security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Microsoft Privacy Statement: https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
4. Permissions
- Camera access: This may be required on iOS to access the flashlight hardware. The app operator does not record or transmit photos or videos to its own servers.
- Screen brightness adjustment permission (on Android, permission to modify system settings may be requested): This is used to maximize screen brightness in screen brightness adjustment mode and restore the original value when the function ends.
- Network permission: This is used to the extent necessary for Google ad requests and the operation of third-party SDKs.
5. Retention and Deletion
- The app operator does not store users’ personal information on its own servers.
- Local settings data is retained on the device until the user changes the settings or deletes the App.
- If the user withdraws analytics consent in the App’s settings, the App will stop recording custom analytics events thereafter and will call the consent or collection suspension functions of Firebase Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
- The retention periods and deletion methods for data processed by advertising and analytics SDKs are governed by the privacy policies of each provider.
6. Security
- The app operator does not directly collect sensitive personal information, and App settings values are stored on the device.
- Data processed through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, Firebase Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity is protected in accordance with the security systems of each provider.
7. Children and Minors
- Although the App’s Google Play content rating may be displayed as suitable for ages 3 and above, the App is not designed as a service primarily directed to specific children. The App also does not provide any feature for entering personally identifiable information such as name, email address, or phone number.
- Ad display follows the Google Mobile Ads policies, and guardians may restrict personalized advertising through the device OS settings or the Google Ads Settings page.
8. User Choices
- Users may allow or withdraw analytics consent in the App’s settings.
- Users may reset the advertising ID, restrict personalized advertising, delete App data, and take similar actions through the device operating system.
- Local settings data may be deleted or changed by deleting the App, deleting the App’s data through the operating system, or changing the settings within the App.
- For inquiries or requests regarding personal information directly processed by the app operator, please contact the contact point specified in this Policy. The app operator will review requests based on this Policy and the relevant laws of the Republic of Korea. Requests regarding data held by external providers are governed by each provider’s privacy policy and settings tools.
9. Overseas Processing and Transfer
- The app operator does not transfer personal information overseas through its own servers.
- However, Google Mobile Ads, Firebase Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity may process relevant data through each provider’s global infrastructure, including servers located overseas such as in the United States, in the course of providing advertising or analytics functionality. The table below describes the main processing timing and methods to the extent understood by the app operator, and the specific processing locations, retention periods, and deletion methods are governed by each provider’s policies.
