During my field placement at Urban Planet YM inc, I received real retail experience as a visual merchandiser from knowing how to read QR codes, SKUs, sort by categories, sort by collections, manage inventory, set up and take down wall fixtures, pin security tags for stock, and manage inventory sheet manifest. My experience went well as I was able to create good visual retail concepts, build retail displays, and thrive to accomplish the brand goals and desires for each collection. Also, drive traffic in-store and share compelling stories with consumers by offering them fashion styling advice and information about the brand. I've learned so much about myself during this time in placement, such as identifying what areas of retail I resonate with the most, for example, I enjoy communicating and solving problems. I'm thankful for the experience and opportunity to use marketing incentives and tactics like word of mouth, e-commerce, promotion, and social media to help drive sales and satisfy the needs of such a large demographic.
