Clinic Coordinator: Midori Handford, Sean Cannon & Julian Cooper
About Midori: She is a registered physiotherapist at Allan McGavin Sport Medicine Clinic and an avid runner. Midori has taken post-graduate courses in manual therapy and prevention of running injuries to help rehabilitate her clients, and herself! In the past few years, Midori has started doing triathlons, completing two Olympic distance courses and hopes to compete in a Half Ironman in 2018. Prior to taking up running more seriously, Midori played competitive soccer and badminton.
About Sean: Sean has been a recreational runner for the past 20 years, but have started setting distance goals in the past 2 years. 2017 saw Sean complete 5 half marathons, and he is now aiming for completing his first Marathon in 2018. Sean works as a Registered Massage Therapist in between runs, and has taken an interest to working with runners reach their goals, or rehab through injuries along the way.
How long have you been involved with the InTraining Program?
Midori: She is excited to be involved in the program for the first time this year!
Sean: This is his first year with the InTraining Program.
What is your favourite InTraining memory?
Midori: She anticipates to learn a lot from her InTraining participants, and looks forward to meeting new faces in the community.
Sean: We recently conducted our own in house training program this fall, and seeing participants reach new distances for the first time was very exciting!
Favorite place to run/walk?
Midori: From False Creek to Second Beach
Sean: Science World / Seawall
What can participants look forward to this year with the Allan McGavin group? Information and advice on how to make your running fun, faster, and injury-free! We will take participants on great routes along the seawall, and provide guidance from leaders that not only run, but help with run injuries.
