It begins with an idea:
Brainstorming: What do I want to cover for the case study. I decided to use a walking app for this case study.
Why? Because fitness/health has become a part of our daily lives. Although incorporating apps into our lives/provides convenience, they can also use improvements to cater to individual needs.
WalkToo is a mobile fitness app that aims to provide an enjoyable and seamless experience that motivates users to make fitness a priority in their daily lives. Once the user successfully onboards, the app provides customization and on-going support.
My role: I was the sole designer throughout the entire process: User research through design.
Timeline: July 2022 to September 2022
Tools: Figma, Canva
The process includes researching and understanding the problems/pain points the user's are having. Who they are, what they have tried and what are their immediate goals. It also includes researching competitors.
It's no secret that our society is obsessed with technology and gadgets. We rely on our smartphones and laptops to keep us connected and entertained, so it's no surprise that we're also using them to help us stay fit and healthy. However, we are all different and have our own unique needs and it can be a little overwhelming trying to tailor an individualized fitness routine due to having so many options available.
Problem Statement:
User Personas:
This begins with conducting user research. Generating personas requires acquiring information about users, combining that information, and then creating the persona for that user. Creating a user persona helps to identify the thoughts behaviors and pain points for the users in which the app is designed for. This information is utilized throughout the rest of the design process.
This area of discovery involves researching competitors and gathering information that could be applicable to the structure and implementation of WalkToo's App.

Reflection on the UX process:
I enjoyed creating and learning the process of the design process for this case study. As I was the sole designer for the entire project, having the freedom and the flexibility to choose the subject was a lot in some areas as I had to narrow down framework of what I wanted to cover as there are so many options and areas within health to choose from. Creating a balance between optimizing the users experiences and the needs of an organization is an on-going process.
