It begins with an idea:
Brainstorming: What do I want to cover for the case study. I decided to use a walking app for this case study.
Why? Because fitness/health has become a part of our daily lives. Although incorporating apps into our lives/provides convenience, they can also use improvements to cater to individual needs.
New Leaf is a mental wellness focused on building conversations and providing resources for those within the BIPOC Communities.

The process includes researching and understanding the problems/pain points the user's are having. Who they are, what they have tried and what are their immediate goals. It also includes researching competitors.
It's no secret that our society is obsessed with technology and gadgets. We rely on our smartphones and laptops to keep us connected and entertained, so it's no surprise that we're also using them to help us stay fit and healthy. However, we are all different and have our own unique needs and it can be a little overwhelming trying to tailor an individualized fitness routine due to having so many options available.
Problem Statement:
BIPOC
Mental health is increasing in popularity among BIPOC as they are seeking outlets that will serve their needs. As BIPOC have been a marginated population with limited access to services as well as some longstanding stigmas within the community, they do not know where to start learning about improving their mental health as well as affordable and accessible and avenues for seeking professional services.
User Personas:
This begins with conducting user research. Generating personas requires acquiring information about users, combining that information, and then creating the persona for that user. Creating a user persona helps to identify the thoughts behaviors and pain points for the users in which the app is designed for. This information is utilized throughout the rest of the design process.

Reflection on the UX process:
I enjoyed collaborating with my design colleagues in the creation of this app. Throughout each development stage of the project provided opportunities to learn and improve on the design process. Creating a balance between optimizing the users experiences and the needs of an organization is an on-going process.
