Description
The Vision & Artificial Intelligence Lab at UTSA is seeking undergraduate researchers for a project on image segmentation.
This project is funded by the Department of Defense and will focus on encoder/decoder architectures and prototypical networks for few-shot semantic segmentation.
Work on a team of undergraduates and graduate students in computer science at UTSA and collaborating institutions to develop new deep learning models for vision tasks.
Start Date: January 2026 (part time, 19hrs/week)
# Hours per week: 40hrs/week Summer 2026, 19hrs/week Fall 2026
Paid or Credit: paid
Location: UTSA Main Campus, Vision & AI Lab (NPB 2.214) in Spring/Summer 2026, plans to move to SP2 in Fall 2026
Eligibility & Requirements
Required coursework/skills/experience: experience with deep learning models for computer vision, PyTorch. Experience reading & discussing research papers in the field.
Recommended coursework/skills/experience:
U.S. citizenship required?: Yes
Commitment length: minimum of Spring 2026 and Summer 2026
Possibility for extension of appointment through Fall 2026, pending funding and student performance.
