Dan Gibson's Solitudes (157 albums)

Dan Gibson was a Canadian photographer, cinematographer and sound recordist who created a brand of music called Solitudes in 1981. Solitudes was a series of albums that captured the sounds of various natural environments, such as forests, oceans, lakes, mountains and wildlife. He also integrated instrumental music into some of his albums, creating thematic elements based on the type of music and instruments used.

Dan Gibson started his career in the late 1940s, taking photographs and making nature films, including Audubon Wildlife Theatre. He produced many films and television series, and learned how to record wildlife sound. He pioneered techniques of recording and designed equipment to optimize results, such as the "Dan Gibson Parabolic Microphone". Some of his early recordings of the 1950s and 1960s were released on LP Records.
