Laide joined the geotechnical group of the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin as a PhD student in 2019. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (2005) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria and a Master’s degree (2009) from Dalhousie University, Canada with focus on the reliability-based designs of shallow foundations. Prior to joining UT, Laide worked at TC Energy for almost 10 years in Calgary, AB, Canada, managing the integrity of buried oil and gas pipelines subjected to geohazards. Her current research focuses on improving procedures for mapping and predicting earthquake-induced landslides.
