Ghassan joined the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Before starting his PhD studies, Ghassan completed his Master’s degree in Structural Engineering at the American University of Beirut after which he worked there as an instructor for two years. His PhD research focuses on the nonlinear behavior and seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures through numerical modeling and experimental testing. He is also interested in the bond-slip behavior of conventional and Iron-based Shape Memory Alloy (Fe-SMA) bars.
