UTalent Records had the chance to sit down with rookie K-pop group AtHeart, and discuss the intensely emotional and rewarding journey of putting their first EP out into the world.
With bright, colorful vocals and uniquely digitalized tracks, AtHeart has been taking the world of K-pop by storm with their hit EP Plot Twist. Though this girl group only just debuted in August of 2025, they have already claimed global recognition by outlets such as Apple Music and Billboard, who deemed them “Rookie of the Month” in the month of their EP’s release.
The teen popstars released their pre-debut single “Good Girl (AtHeart)” in May of 2025, and the song quickly skyrocketed in popularity with fans loving the vibrantly fresh sound of their music. When asked about the unconventional sonic quality of their work, AtHeart emphasized that it is a completely intentional feature of their artist identity. While they are certainly inspired by the talented K-pop artists that came before them, they hope their fresh, independent tone will shine through from within the industry.
AtHeart, as a name, came from the combination of the “@” symbol and the heart. “@” represents the strong connection that they strive to have with their fans, while the “heart” is a testament to the deep love and passion they have for their music and stories. Through the art they create, AtHeart works to introduce the world to who each of them is and who they are as a group, at heart. With their debut EP Plot Twist, these girls aimed to prove their emotional and sonic versatility within just five songs. Approaching each piece with a different style and sound, AtHeart managed to maintain their fun, fresh image across upbeat electronic pop songs as seen in “Dot Dot Dot...” to vulnerable, honest pieces like “Knew Me”. While they love their current cute and lighthearted image, they also hope to take a “cooler” or “tougher” edge to their style in the future.
Though all the members of AtHeart are in their late teens, their young age seems to encourage them to learn and grow as individuals in the industry. The members are all huge fans of the artists that came before them and want to learn from their teamwork, stage presence, and strong bond with fans. They practice relentlessly to master their performances, but have noticed that their skills have gradually become more cohesive; they are able to work together smoothly as a unit to create their art. Recently, AtHeart flew down to Los Angeles for an intimate show with their American fans. Commenting on the surreal experience of meeting fans from an entirely different nation, the girls were deeply moved by having people who were so emotionally connected to their music that they could sing along. To them, it really proved the power of music to transcend language and cultural boundaries while still connecting people across the world.
In their short amount of time in the music industry, AtHeart has already proven their ability to make waves in the world of K-pop. Their central focus is on sharing an authentic representation of their lives with listeners, and hope that the truth of their music will help fans to connect and resonate with their art. By revealing their secrets, desires, and insecurities through impassioned musical numbers, AtHeart is truly poised to make their lasting mark on K-pop and beyond.
