What is BarCitizen?
What is BarCitizen?
It is a worldwide social movement instituted and organized by the enthusiastic fans of a space simulation game called Star Citizen that began development in 2012.
Fans of the game held "events" and get-togethers to share information, stories, and camaraderie surrounding their mutual enthusiasm for Star Citizen. Soon these events - many of which occurred at a local pub or restaurant - began to be informally referred to as "BarCitizen" events; a lighthearted twist on the name of the game, Star Citizen.
Of course, not all events occur at bars seeing as how not all Star Citizens drink, are of age, or like the atmosphere; so BarCitizen events can be held anywhere fans wish to gather, such as restaurants, bowling alleys, gaming venues, backyard BBQs, museums, parks - you name it.
It’s a way for Star Citizen fans to meet others and make real world friendships.
Hundreds of worldwide events have been held since the BarCitizen site went live in September 2016 and its Discord server started being used to bring local citizens together.
