Minutes Matter

Sister States Program

Illinois * Arizona * New Jersey * Oklahoma

Minnesota * Massachusetts * Missouri * North Dakota * Wisconsin

Nebraska * Iowa * Pennsylvania * South Dakota

Sister States Program was established in the 1986-1987 year; with a larger state being matched up with a smaller state. The purpose of this program is to encourage fellowship and support among our state organizations. To participate, you may want to exchange newsletters, offer state theme kits at conventions, exchange membership ideas, help with membership events or activities (if you are close enough) and support each other throughout the year. The State Presidents or contact should feel free to participate at any level and can delegate responsibility to a staff member, usually the secretary. You will find this a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the organization, your fellow states and chapters and new projects, as well as membership and social ideas. Have fun!

Here we are in 2nd trimester already. Have you sent me your meeting minutes and newsletters yet? I’d love to see what you’re doing in your chapters and states. These are a great way to share that information with me. Plus I really enjoy seeing the creativity used in your newsletters. I learn from you!!

I hope you are taking the time to read the Today’s Leaders as they come out. They contain lots of good information from the USWT staff and from state presidents. It’s a good way for you to learn what’s happening in the other states and what your USWT staff is doing.

If you have any questions about minutes or newsletters, send me an email and I’ll do my best to get you the answers you need. Thank you to all of you who have sent me your meeting minutes and newsletters.

Secretary Fast Start

I’m encouraging all of you t0 complete my Fast Start Challenge. Please submit the following information to me either via email or snail mail by August 15th and I’ll have a special incentive for you at National Mid-Year in October.

  • Send a letter of introduction telling me about yourself and including your theme and logo for the year.

  • Send me your goals and a short statement on how you plan to achieve each of them.

  • Submit a copy of the minutes that you recorded at one of your state meetings. (If no meeting is held before August 15th, let me know which meeting minutes you will be submitting.)

  • Communicate with your local chapter secretaries. Let them know that I would like to receive a copy of their minutes any time during the year. I am also willing to provide a review and commentary of their minutes. Please provide a copy of the email or letter that you sent out to local secretaries.

  • If you also serve as your state Newsletter Editor, please let me know so I can add you to the list of newsletter contacts. (I would welcome having you send me the name and contact information for your state newsletter editor.)
