Emphasis Months:

  • August

  • October

  • February

So let’s Work Together

I want to let everyone know that DVA emphasis month is October. One of my challenges is for each chapter to wear something purple for your Oct meeting. Take a picture and post it to the USWT Programming Facebook group under the challenge post. You will get an incentive at USWT Year-End Convention. I will need your chapter name for the incentive.

I’m still selling purple pins for $2.00 each and note pads for $3.00 each. Let me know how many you would like. Then the chapter that sells the most will win a wine and chocolate basket at USWT Year-End Convention. The donations will be going towards Domestic Violence Awareness.

Please consider purchasing a luminary bag for Domestic Violence Awareness. Each bag is a minimum donation of $5.00. Individuals or chapters may purchase them. Please send me your donation along with your transmittal form filled out stating the name of the victim and survivors that you want written on the bags. I will be taking the names and donations by mail until the end of October or you may also purchase them at the Year-End Convention.

Please consider purchasing a White Luminary Bag for Domestic Violence Awareness. Each bag is a minimum donation of $5.00. Individuals or chapters may purchase them. Please send me your donation along with your transmittal form filled out stating the name of the victim and/or survivors that you want written on the bags. Pain: can change you, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a bad change; turn pain into wisdom.

Everyone has the right to live without fear and violence.

Each Domestic Violence Awareness Program Manager is encouraged to promote the area in a way she finds most beneficial and fun. Having a fun theme/logo often makes the promotion of this area easier and more effective. She may also offer any kind of incentives she believes will encourage members' participation. Please fill out the DVA Transmittal Form and remit to the DVA Program Manager.

First Trimester Challenge

One of my goals this year is to get one transmittal from each state trimester. For every transmittal I receive, your name will go into a drawing for a wine and chocolate basket at USWT Mid-Year Convention. This can be submitted by an individual, chapter, district and state.

Plus my overall challenge is the State that Donate the most money will get an incentive at year end convention.

Hello USWT members, my name is Kathy Hansen. I am excited to be your Domestic Violence Awareness Program Manager this year. I joined Saint Michael/Albertville Minnesota Women of Today in March of 1998. I have held several Women of Today positions at the chapter, district, and state levels. I have held the office of chapter President twice, state delegate five times, parliamentarian twice, programming VP once and internal VP once. On the district level I held the position of District Director five times and District Treasurer twice. At the state level I held the position of Community Connection once.

I decided to take this position because I have a loved one that lived through a domestic violent situation. One of my goals this year is to get one transmittal from each state every trimester. For every transmittal I receive your name will go into a drawing for a wine and chocolate basket at USWT midyear convention. This can be submitted by a individual, chapter, district or state.
