Usps Tracking

Curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I know now that Etsy using tracking through Pitney Bowes but ships through USPS (which every person at my local post office is also heavily confused by) This month alone I had 8 orders that tracking said showed up and either never did or showed up days after it said it was delivered. I then had 2 orders that were just stuck in the "Pre-Transit" part of tracking. This is getting so confusing because I will drop a stack of envelopes off and 10 will all make it fine and then 1 will have this issue. When I ask for help from etsy/pitney bowes they tell me to go to USPS with it. When I go to USPS they tell me to go to etsy because they can't do anything with an invalid USPS tracking number. Does anyone else have experience using a different form of tracked shipping with letter mail & flat mailers? I sadly am not a large enough business to be able to send out replacement orders this often.

Sounds like you are shipping as a flat and using the PB tracking. It is NOT like a valid USPS tracking number. PB should be helping you with this ..I doubt the USPS will as it is not their tracking number. Also if you are shipping a RIGID mailer as a flat that might be the issue. A flat is still supposed to be machinable.. not rigid. There are flexibility tests as to what constitutes a flat on the USPS website ( you have to dig a bit). They may be getting skimmed off as an ineligible service. For ME it is worth the extra buck or so if a truly rigid mailer to mail it as a FC package. I use some pretty heavy cardboard mailers but I still put a piece of corrugated cardboard inside to make sure it qualifies as rigid enough to be a non machinable FC package . Also if it is over 3/4" anyplace or not uniformly thick it is considered a package not a flat.

Yes, This is happening to me. I used to be able to type in tracking number manually. Now it keeps saying it is invalid if I select USPS. I think this is an effort to force us to buy our shipping labels via Etsy. Notice that you can't be a Star Seller unless you use Etsy shipping labels. Sad.

I have taken to manually adding the USPS Tracking Number in the little email that goes out when you mark the item shipped. Also, I am going to experiment with the formatting of the USPS tracking number when I enter it. Maybe that is part of the problem. Spaces/No spaces. USPS in front of number?

@RestoredRest is there an option to mark it a Pitney Bowes tracking number? It is not a USPS tracking number so that is probably your issue...it is a different format so it is getting refused for USPS.

Disagreed DragonflyDreams1, by choosing Etsy ship and label we aren't choosing Pitney Bowes. It clearly states and provides what is called a 'tracking number' which of course is not a USPS tracking number. Then if Customer has a question on shipping it says to contact me, the Seller. It's a closed loop spinning circle, I have no way of tracking what USPS received.

I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE! I have 11 orders that are pre-transit, but I confirmed with customers that they've all arrived safely even weeks ago. I just put my shop in vacation mode until I figure out what to do. I've been making great sales offering "free shipping" and using the Pitney Bowes letter option so I can offer tracking to the customer all while trying to re-earn my Star Seller badge. Clearly, this "perk" is useless. I just don't want to have to bump prices again. I reached out to Etsy with the issue and all my concerns, so I'll reply back with what they say.

USCIS, through the Secure Mail Initiative (SMI), uses USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation to deliver certain immigration documents in a safe, secure, and timely manner. SMI enables us to confirm delivery of Permanent Resident Cards (also known as Green Cards) and documents related to travel and employment authorization. With USPS tracking information, you can easily stay up to date on the delivery status of your documents and confirm if essential documents were delivered to the proper address.

If your USPS tracking information shows your package was delivered but you have not received it, follow the steps recommend by USPS on the Find Missing Mail webpage. You should begin the steps as soon as you believe your mail is missing.

My job involves sending a lot of United States Postal Service (USPS) certified mail. I log the address and the 16 digit tracking number into a spreadsheet and very week I copy and paste the number into the USPS tracking website and then I update the results onto another column. This is really tedious work as it takes me about 45 minutes every week.

If you suspect the text message you have received is suspicious but are expecting a parcel, please do not click on any links. Rather, report it and visit USPS.com from your mobile device or computer for tracking and additional resources.

I shipped an order yesterday, and was confused at why the tracking information isn't updating in eBay. I then looked back at the USPS labels I had created, and noticed that the tracking number displayed by eBay is the one I voided! Not the second tracking number I generated with signature confirmation. I then clicked "Edit Tracking" on the listing, and found (1) that both the voided and the second, still-valid number were shown and (2) I could not in fact edit the tracking numbers so that the buyer would see the correct tracking information for their purchase.

How do I remove the voided tracking number, so the buyer doesn't think I haven't even shipped their order yet? (It's not clear how they even view tracking for the second number, which eBay does know about.)

Why didn't eBay automatically remove the voided tracking number from the order? I literally have an email from eBay saying "Your USPS shipping label has been voided.", because I purchased and voided the label through eBay. Why is eBay, despite that, continuing to show the voided tracking number? That just ends up looking unprofessional even though I did everything right to correct a small and easy to make mistake when purchasing the first label.

I think I have doen this before and did not worry about it,I am unsure wether or not an order can have 2 tracking numbers for 2 packages if the 1st was canceled,if you printed the lable thru ebay there shoud be nothing to worry about

I voided the label. That means I'm telling eBay that I'm not using it, and the tracking number is no longer relevant. As the seller, it's my responsibility to ensure the details on the transaction are accurate, and yet, eBay chooses to make this impossible by, apparently, making it impossible for me to remove the invalid tracking informaiton.

How long it takes to receive a refund for the voided label is irrelevant, and the fact that I could choose to use the label equally so. If I did use the label, I would obviously not expect to receive a refund, and if for some reason I used the voided label to ship the order, it would be my problem that the tracking information shown on the order was not accurate.

As it stands, as @bar-29368 points out, eBay's decision here means that the tracking information displayed on the order is inaccurate, and there's nothing I seem to be able to do about it. That's pretty stupid.

To the right in the buyer's name etc block is a tracking number with an "edit" button next to it. Click the edit button. That will bring up a page with your tracking number(s). If there is more than one both will show.

What I do have on my sold items page are "view tracking" and "edit tracking" links on the listing. The "edit tracking" page very obviously does not have any way to remove tracking numbers. (It's a pretty simple page.) The only option is to add another number in addition to the two already there.

The good news is, the item did arrive, it was signed for, and it looks like everything's set. I'd believe that it was possible to remove tracking numbers on a previous iteration of eBay's UI (and I'd believe that said UI is even active for some users and still allows this), but there doesn't appear to be any way for me to do so.

@mayoujii - So sorry to hear you're having such a hard time receiving a reader! We don't currently provide door to door tracking for our free reader, especially since often times it switches hands between two carriers. I have two suggestions for you: 2351a5e196
