Transferred to WAVE Barracks 128, Pearl Harbor sailed aboard the USS LEON APA 78 from San Fransisco. Worked in Naval Shipyard. Was fortunate enough to tour a submarine in the Harbor. Being in Pearl Harbor on VJ Day was quite an experience. New Years Eve, December, 31st, 1945 was celebrated aboard the USS CONSTELLATION somewhere in the Pacific going back to Frisco. Boarded a troop train for New York and Honorably Discharged as SKD1 on January, 14th, 1946. Her awards included American Theater, Asian Theater and National Defense Victory. Brown spent some time in the Reserves, one weekend a month at Floyd Bennett Field until she married Lt. Gilbert L. Brown, USMC, EOD Specialist . (killed in line of duty at Camp Lejeune, NC). The couple had two daughters. Marie joined WAVES National and was President of Unit 66 in 1989 and Vice President in 1990.
