Esther was stationed at Naval Station, Newport, RI in Supply, Clothing and Small Stores. She was selected for specialized WAVE training by a barrack Master At Arms. The CMA named Helen Harney served in World War I and was recalled to duty at Rhode Island. The main purpose of POL School was to teach its recruits how to effectively give orders to Navy men without being overly temperamental or emotional. Campbell described the four week experience as very informative. She finished her military career at COMSERVPAC in November 1958.
