This Privacy Policy explains how the Usha app ("the app", "we") handles your information. Usha is a women's health and safety app offering period tracking, breast and cervical health awareness, emergency SOS features, and optional care-package requests.
The short version: your health data never leaves your phone. We have no servers, no accounts, and we cannot see anything you log. The only data processing by third parties is by Google, for showing ads and handling optional subscription payments.
Information the app does NOT collect
The app itself does not collect, transmit, store remotely, sell, rent, or share any personal information. There is no sign-up, no account, no cloud database, and no analytics SDK operated by us. We, the developers, have no access to anything you enter in the app.
2. Information stored only on your device
Everything you enter your name, period dates, cycle and symptom logs, private notes, breast self-exam and screening records, trusted contacts, app-lock PIN, and language/theme preferences is stored exclusively in the app's local storage on your own phone. This data is never uploaded anywhere by the app; it is excluded from Android cloud backups and device-to-device transfers by design; and it can be permanently erased at any time via Settings Delete all my data, or by uninstalling the app.
Location (SOS feature only)
If you use the Emergency SOS feature, the app requests your device's location once, at that moment only, solely to insert a Google Maps link into the emergency SMS/WhatsApp message that YOU choose to send to your trusted contacts. The app does not store your location and does not transmit it to us or to any server. If you deny the location permission, SOS still works the message is simply sent without coordinates.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the app shows banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process data including your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate (coarse) location derived from IP, and ad-interaction data. This processing is performed by Google under its own terms see the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and "How Google uses data in AdMob" (https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543). You can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation at any time in Android Settings Privacy Ads. Your health data (cycles, symptoms, notes, contacts) is never shared with advertisers and is never used for ad targeting.
Subscriptions and payments (Google Play Billing)
The app offers an optional subscription, Usha Plus, which removes advertising. All payments are processed entirely by Google Play. We never see, receive, or store your card number, UPI ID, bank details, or any other payment credentials. Google provides us no personally identifying purchase information beyond an anonymous purchase token used to activate your subscription on your device. Purchases are governed by the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. You can cancel anytime in Play Store Payments & subscriptions; core features (SOS, health guides, cycle tracking) remain free for everyone.
6. Data export (your choice)
The app includes an "Export my data (CSV)" feature. Export happens only when you tap it, and the file is handed to the Android share sheet you choose where it goes (email, cloud drive, another app). Once you share it, that copy is governed by the service you shared it to.
Links to other apps and services
Some actions open other apps: emergency call buttons open your phone dialer; care-package requests open WhatsApp or your SMS app with a message you can review before sending; shopping links open Blinkit; calendar reminders open Google Calendar. Those services operate under their own privacy policies. The app loads the Poppins display font from Google Fonts, which involves a standard web request to Google's servers.
8. Permissions used
Internet to display ads, process subscriptions, and load the display font. Location (fine/coarse) only when you trigger SOS, as described in section 3. Vibration haptic feedback for the SOS button. The app requests no access to your contacts database, camera, microphone, photos, or files.
Children
The app is intended for users aged 13 and above and is not directed at children under 13. The app itself collects no personal data from any user, and we do not knowingly allow any third-party data collection from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us and we will help.
10. Security
Your data stays on your device, protected by your device's own security. The app additionally offers an optional 4-digit PIN lock (Settings App lock) to keep your health information private from anyone who handles your phone. All third-party network traffic (ads, billing) is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Your rights and choices
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to hand over, correct, or delete on a server you have direct control: view and edit everything in the app; delete everything via Settings Delete all my data or by uninstalling; reset your advertising ID in Android settings; revoke the location permission in Android settings at any time. Users in the EU/EEA, UK, and other regions with data-protection laws (GDPR and similar): the app's on-device design means we act as neither a data controller nor processor for your health data; for ad-related processing, Google is the relevant controller as described in section 4.
12. Medical disclaimer
Usha provides general wellness information based on public health guidance (WHO and similar sources). It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Cycle and fertility predictions are estimates and must not be relied on for contraception. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for health concerns.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy for example, when adding new features we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's update notes on Google Play.
