Dec. 18, 2021
On FOX's broadcast of Thursday Night Football, the USFL ran a very short advertisement for their 2022 season 3 different times during the game. Despite how short the ad was, however, there were two main causes for speculation that I noticed from it.
The first one isn't much of a speculation, in fact, it's more likely to be fact that fiction. In the beginning of the ad, a brown football with the colored USFL logo and small white stars on the top (and presumably bottom part too, which wasn't shown) part of the ball. This will more than likely be the game ball for the 2022 USFL season and beyond. The stars on the end clearly weren't photoshopped onto the ball, you can tell that by looking closely and seeing that they, along with the new USFL logo, are printed/indented onto the football itself.
My next speculation is one that I am very excited about. In the commercial, just before this new USFL game ball gets kicked off, a whistle blows and someone says "So here, we, go!". That someone is allegedly Gus Johnson. Some people think that the voice that said that line is the most energetic announcer in football history, Gus Johnson. I'd love to have him announcing USFL games because his exciting voice could make people want to watch the game and pay attention to it more and more.
My third and final speculation is that the little tune played at the end of the advertisement could be the USFL's theme song headed into 2022. After the ball is kicked away and it switched to a white screen with a USFL logo and the logos of all eight of the teams, a song is playing on a guitar but it only plays for around 2 seconds before the commercial is over. I thought it sounded nice, and could easily be a USFL theme song for 2022.
