The Library and Information Science Student Association (LISSA) is the official student chapter of the American Library Association at the University of South Carolina.
Open to all graduate students in the School of Information Science, LISSA connects students through professional development, networking, and social events throughout the year, both virtual and in person. From portfolio workshops to social gatherings, LISSA helps you grow professionally while building a strong LIS community.
Access to conference funding: This past summer, the iSchool fully funded four LISSA board members to attend the ALA Annual Conference in Philadelphia!
Network with fellow students and professionals: LISSA hosts virtual and in-person events like social gatherings, portfolio workshops, and professional networking events each semester
Connect directly with iSchool leadership: The iSchool Director and other faculty regularly attend LISSA meetings and are open to questions and feedback from students
Leadership opportunities: Past board members have received high honors like the Director’s Award for Excellence and the William M. Trafton III Outstanding Leadership Award
