SYNOPSIS

Lifelong sailor with extensive experience in racing, cruising, teaching and race management in a variety of boats and classes. Living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since 1997.

RACING

Collegiate — 1984-1988 Salem State College

  Coached by Joe Duplin in collegiate events for 2 ½ years. Highlights include 3rd place finish in FJ class at 1987 Orange Bowl regatta.

Offshore — 1982-1988

  Winner and First to finish 1985 Corinthian 200 - Metal Mast 30 - Campbell’s Sloop - helm / trim

  Class and Overall Winner 1987 PHRF NE Championship DB2 Cynara bow / tactics

  3rd  1986 ¾ ton North Americans  - DB2 - Cynara - bow / tactics

One Design

  Etchells - 1992-1994 - Competed Weekly in Marblehead Racing Association against 12-35 competitors

  Rhodes 19 - 1998 - 2009 Competed Weekly in Marblehead Racing Association against 18-48 competitors

  Interclub - 2001 - 2009 Frostbiting against 5-12 competitors weekly,

  Snipes - 2007 - 2019 Organized a new fleet of Snipes at Jubilee Yacht Club. Set up weekly and invitational sailing, hosted a number of events

  International 2.4 Meter 2018 - Pres Organized a fleet for weekly competition at Sandy Bay Yacht Club.

CRUISING

1970 - 1981 Lived aboard 2 boats and sailed US east coast, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean - stood watch, coastal and offshore navigation, standard crew work as well as maintenance.

1995 - 2015 Owned, sailed and maintained cruising boats used for New England coastal cruising. Bought boats in BVI and skippered offshore delivery back to Boston.

TEACHING

1988 - Head Instructor - Eastern Point Yacht Club, Gloucester, MA

  Ran a program for 120 kids teaching racing and recreational sailing in dinghies and keelboats.

1991 - Instructor / Skipper Sail Caribbean, Nanny Cay, Tortola, BVI

  Skippered a 48 ft sailboat and taught sailing to 9 students in BVI, responsible for operation and safety.

RACE MANAGEMENT

Member  Jubilee Yacht Club Regatta Committee; Help organize and run PHRF and One Design races at JYC I am PRO for  8 - 10 JYC races annually ~30 entries in 5 fleets

2008 - Principal Race Officer - Snipe North Americans - 27 competitors

2019 - Principal Race Officer - Snipe Nationals - 51 competitors

2019 - Event Co-Chair - Snipe Nationals - 51 competitors

2021 - Event Co-Chair - Snipe North Americans - 50 competitors
