Amazon prime music

The all-new Amazon Music Roku channel brings Amazon Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited to the Roku, allowing users to stream their saved playlists, songs, and records, as well as browse customised recommendations and access tracks stored in the now-defunct Amazon Music Storage cloud.

The Amazon Music Roku app's highlights include:

When a song is playing, the lyrics are shown on the screen.
Recommendations for playlists, albums, songs, and radio stations based on your musical tastes
Browse the most common playlists, albums, songs, and radio stations.
Check out the latest playlists, singles, and songs.
From any computer, choose music that was recently added or played.
Artists, albums, playlists, genres, and songs can all be found in "My Music."

Amazon Music is an Amazon Prime bonus that includes an increasing catalogue of 2 million songs that can be downloaded ad-free and on-demand. Subscriptions to Amazon Music Unlimited are available with or without a Prime membership (see the Fees section below), and provide access to a much wider music library of tens of millions of tracks. However, you'll need one of these subscriptions to listen to some music on this app; there is no free music. You'll be prompted to connect your Amazon account to the Amazon Music channel when you first launch it (see instructions at the end of this review).

The Amazon Music app's home screen provides many ways to search the music library after connecting the Roku app to your Amazon account: Playlists Just for You, Albums Just for You, Stations Just for You, and Playlists Just for You are all places where you can get personalised recommendations. Top Playlists, Top Albums, Top Songs, and Top Stations are also available, as well as New Playlists, New Albums, and New Songs. (At the time of this study, there was no "New Stations" list, which may simply be due to the lack of newly-created stations.)

The songs, playlists, and stations you've recently played on this app and on other devices are listed under "Recents" in the app's top menu bar. Songs do not appear in "Recently Played," but they do appear in "Recents" if you added them to My Music. Those songs are listed under "Recently Added," which oddly does not include singles, playlists, or stations that have been added to My Music recently. Also, if you're a frequent user, you may be irritated that your "recents" aren't classified and are instead shown in the order in which they were played.

However, if you really want to return to something, you should be adding to My Music in the first place. But be aware that you can only add to "My Music" via Amazon Music apps on other devices. Also, since this app is the first to have access to Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited, we should be thankful for all of the bells and whistles.

How to connect your Amazon account to the Amazon Music Roku app

If you haven't already done so, go to Streaming Channels >> Amazon Music on your Roku computer. From your Roku's home screen, go to Channels and type in "Amazon Music."
Sign into your Amazon account by going to amazon.com/code on a computer or mobile device.
In the Amazon Music Roku app, enter the code that appears. (This code is only valid for a limited time.) If the code doesn't work, try generating a new one on your Roku device.)
After the linking code is approved, the Amazon Music app will automatically refresh with your music library and personalised recommendations.

Channel for Developers: Roku allows you to find and play the music you enjoy. Prime Music gives you access to a curated library of two million tracks, playlists, and radio stations, all of which are ad-free and included with your Prime membership. Amazon Music Unlimited gives you access to tens of millions of tracks.
