Privacy Policy for UpUpClean
Effective Date: August 4, 2026
Welcome to UpUpClean ("App", "we", "us", or "our").
This Privacy Policy explains how UpUpClean handles information when you use the App. UpUpClean is designed as a local-first photo cleanup and memory album tool. We aim to help you review duplicates, similar photos, screenshots, favorites, and albums without uploading your photos for analysis.
By downloading, installing, or using UpUpClean, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. About UpUpClean
UpUpClean is an Android application that helps users organize their photo library.
The App may provide features such as:
- scanning local photos on your device;
- finding exact duplicate photos;
- finding similar photos and burst-like images;
- grouping screenshots by month;
- helping you choose photos to keep or delete;
- creating in-app favorites and memory albums;
- showing selected photos on a confirmation page before deletion;
- using Android system deletion confirmation before permanently deleting photos.
UpUpClean does not move, copy, or upload your original photos to provide these cleanup features.
2. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of UpUpClean and features provided inside the App.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services that you may open from the App, such as an external browser page. Those third parties are governed by their own privacy policies.
3. Information We Access or Process
UpUpClean needs access to certain information on your device to provide its photo organization features.
3.1 Photo Library Information
When you grant photo access permission, the App may read and process information about photos available through Android MediaStore, including:
- photo content URI;
- MediaStore ID;
- file name and relative path;
- file size;
- image width and height;
- date taken, date added, and modified time;
- MIME type;
- orientation;
- whether the file appears to be a screenshot;
- whether the image can be decoded for local analysis.
This information is used to scan your photo library, group photos, show thumbnails, and help you review cleanup choices.
3.2 Local Image Analysis Data
To find exact duplicates and similar photos, UpUpClean may generate local analysis data, such as:
- image fingerprint values;
- perceptual hash values;
- image quality signals such as sharpness or exposure score;
- group IDs for duplicate, similar, and screenshot results;
- recommended keep reasons for review.
This analysis is performed locally on your device. The App does not upload your photos, thumbnails, image fingerprints, perceptual hashes, or similarity results to our servers for analysis.
3.3 Favorites and Memory Album Data
If you use favorites or memory album features, the App may store information locally on your device, including:
- app favorite status;
- memory album names;
- album cover image reference;
- album photo references based on MediaStore IDs;
- sorting order;
- selected year, month, or date range filters;
- album creation and update time.
These records are used only to display and manage your in-app favorites and memory albums. UpUpClean does not copy the original photo files when creating an in-app album.
3.4 Cleanup Decisions
When you mark photos as "Keep" or "Delete", UpUpClean may store those choices locally on your device so your review state can remain consistent after scanning or reopening the App.
The App does not delete photos automatically. Photos are deleted only after you choose photos for deletion and confirm through the Android system delete confirmation flow where required.
3.5 Device and App Information
The App may access basic device or app information needed for normal operation, such as:
- Android version;
- app version;
- language setting;
- screen and device configuration;
- permission status.
This information is used to show the correct UI, apply your language preference, and keep the App compatible with Android system behavior.
4. How We Use Information
We use information accessed or processed by the App to:
- provide photo scanning and cleanup features;
- identify exact duplicate photos;
- identify similar photos;
- group screenshots by month;
- display local thumbnails and photo previews;
- save your keep/delete decisions;
- create and manage in-app favorites and memory albums;
- prepare Android system deletion requests;
- update cleanup results after deletion;
- maintain App functionality and stability;
- apply language settings and other local preferences.
5. Local Processing
UpUpClean is built around local processing.
Photo scanning, duplicate detection, similar photo analysis, screenshot grouping, cleanup decisions, favorites, and memory album records are processed and stored on your device.
We do not require you to create an account. We do not upload your photos for cleanup analysis. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Permissions
UpUpClean may request Android permissions depending on your device version and the features you use.
6.1 Photos and Media Permission
The App requests access to photos or media so it can scan, display, group, and help you organize photos.
If you deny this permission, photo scanning and cleanup features may not work. If you grant limited photo access, UpUpClean can only process photos that you allow Android to share with the App.
You can change or revoke permissions at any time in Android system settings.
6.2 Delete Confirmation
On supported Android versions, deleting photos may require Android's system confirmation dialog. UpUpClean prepares a deletion request for the photos you selected, and Android asks you to confirm before deletion.
If you cancel the system confirmation, the App will not delete the selected photos.
6.3 Internet or Browser Access
The App may open an external browser when you tap links such as the Privacy Policy. UpUpClean does not need Internet access to perform local photo cleanup analysis.
7. Deletion of Photos
UpUpClean may help you permanently delete photos that you explicitly selected for deletion.
Important:
- UpUpClean does not delete photos automatically.
- You can review selected photos before deletion.
- Android may show a system confirmation dialog before deletion.
- Deleted photos may not be recoverable.
- The exact deletion behavior may depend on Android version, device manufacturer, gallery app, and system storage rules.
After deletion, UpUpClean may refresh its local scan results to remove deleted items from the App's local database.
8. Data Storage and Retention
Most App data is stored locally on your device.
Local App data may include photo metadata references, analysis results, group results, favorites, albums, language preference, and cleanup decisions.
This local data may remain on your device until:
- you clear App data;
- you uninstall the App;
- the App refreshes scan results;
- related photos are no longer available;
- you change or remove selections inside the App.
If a photo is deleted or becomes unavailable, UpUpClean may remove or ignore related local records during later scans.
9. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not upload your photo library for cleanup analysis.
We may disclose information only if required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal process, or enforceable government requests, or to protect rights, safety, and security where permitted by law.
10. Third-Party Services
UpUpClean may rely on Android system services and Google Play distribution infrastructure to function on your device.
If the App opens a third-party website or browser page, that website or browser may process information according to its own privacy policy.
Current core cleanup features do not require advertising SDKs or cloud photo analysis services. If future versions add analytics, crash reporting, advertising, cloud backup, or other third-party services, we will update this Privacy Policy as required.

11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the App.
Because UpUpClean primarily stores cleanup data locally, you should also protect your device with appropriate system security measures, such as a screen lock and updated operating system.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Choices and Rights
You can control your information in several ways:
- deny, limit, or revoke photo access permission in Android settings;
- clear App data in Android settings;
- uninstall the App;
- remove photos from in-app selections;
- change App language settings;
- contact us with privacy questions or requests.
Depending on your country or region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal information. Because most UpUpClean data is stored locally on your device, many privacy controls can be exercised directly through your device settings.
13. Children's Privacy
UpUpClean is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address the issue.
14. International Users
Because UpUpClean primarily processes photo cleanup information locally on your device, photo analysis data is generally not transferred internationally by us for cleanup features.
If you contact us by email or open external services, your information may be processed according to the systems and providers involved in that communication.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in App functionality, legal requirements, or our privacy practices.
When we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the Effective Date above. If required by law, we may provide additional notice in the App or by other appropriate means.
