So i haven't played in a while and today i go to launch ubisoft connect, i encouter some error. I did research into it and i find out that windows 7 in not supported by ubisoft connect, okey, fair enough. But what about the games i legally bought? Ubi just has the right to remove the option of playing them from me? They run on windows 7 so where is the problem? Any help?

that worked for the past half year (it even persisted through launcher updates) but it didn't work this time. I also tried the other solution there by downloading dxvk from github and copying dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll to the uplay root folder but no difference. Still the same. It's probably Google screwing around since sadly all launchers are basically a chrome browser under the hood.

Hopefully someone will have a fix or perhaps by spoofing the windows version, the VxKex thing or a .dll mod. People have made chrome 115+ running on 7, perhaps a modded launcher could be a thing someday, who knows..

We're currently investigating the full extent of this, but moralising and recrimination can come later. For now, the important thing is to warn folks who have certain Ubisoft games installed on their PCs that an apparent backdoor has been discovered in the Uplay infrastructure/DRM which may in theory allow any anyone so minded to install God knows what horrors on your PC. It isn't confirmed as definite, but certainly proof of concept code is calling up Uplay windows and then loading other programs from websites that have nothing to do with Ubisoft. If Uplay is on your PC, I urge you to uninstall it and any games that use it immediately, until we know more. Update: the flaw lies specifically in a browser plugin Uplay quietly installs, and the general consensus is now that's all you need to remove to protect yourself. See below for details on how to rid your PC of it.

A special important note: ensure you've set Ubisoft Connect to minimize when closed in the settings. In Gaming Mode on the Steam Deck, you need to quickly close Ubisoft Connect once you hit Play on a game, otherwise Gamescope (the SteamOS compositor) gets confused on what to display and madly flashes between the launcher and the game. A problem shared by many launchers right now. UPDATE: thanks to a comment, you can get Ubisoft Connect to auto-launch a specific game by adding uplay://launch/*gameID*/0 to the end of your Steam launch options for the app (ID list here) which gets around the flashing issue but only works for a specific game at a time. 2351a5e196
