This Privacy Policy explains how UpClean ("UpClean", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the UpClean mobile application (the "App" or "Services").
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to UpClean and its in-app features, including photo cleanup, duplicate and similar photo detection, screenshot organization, chat photo organization, video compression previews and compression, contacts organization, and related utility features.
UpClean is designed primarily to process media and contacts information locally on your device. Some Android features require system permissions before they can work.
Information We Collect or Access
Information you provide
- Contact information, such as your email address, if you contact us for support, feedback, or privacy requests.
- Any information you voluntarily include in messages sent to us.
Photo and media information
If you grant photo or media permission, UpClean may access images in your accessible gallery to find duplicate photos, similar photos, similar screenshots, other screenshots, and chat photos. The App may process image metadata, file size, resolution, modified time, previews, local grouping data, and local image similarity data so you can review groups and choose what to delete.
For chat photo organization, UpClean may use locally available MediaStore information, such as source package name, media path, folder name, and related metadata, to identify photos that appear to come from supported chat applications. UpClean does not analyze private chat messages.
UpClean does not upload your personal photos to our servers for duplicate detection, similarity detection, screenshot organization, or chat photo organization. These features are designed to run on your device.
Video information
If you grant video permission, UpClean may access videos in your accessible media library to display video compression candidates. The App may process video metadata, file size, duration, resolution, MIME type, display name, timestamps, and local preview frames.
When you choose to compress a video, UpClean processes the selected video on your device and saves the compressed result to your device's media library. The original video is deleted only if you choose that option and complete any required Android system authorization.
UpClean does not upload your personal videos to our servers for video scanning, preview, or compression.
Contacts information
If you grant contacts permission, UpClean may read contacts on your device to show duplicate-name groups, incomplete contacts, and all contacts. The App may process contact display names, contact IDs, raw contact IDs, phone-number presence, and phone numbers needed to display contact cleanup lists.
If you choose to delete contacts, UpClean may request write contacts permission and delete the selected contacts from your device. Contacts are deleted only after you choose them and confirm the deletion action.
UpClean does not upload your contacts to our servers for contact organization or deletion.
Device and app information
UpClean may process basic device and app information needed to operate the App, such as device model, Android version, app version, language, diagnostics, feature usage, and error information.
Permissions We Request
Depending on your Android version and the features you use, UpClean may request or rely on the following permissions or system access:
- Photo/media access: to scan duplicate or similar photos, screenshots, chat photos, and show image previews.
- Video access: to scan video compression candidates, show video thumbnails, preview videos, and compress selected videos.
- Selected media access: on supported Android versions, to work with only the photos or videos you allow.
- Read contacts: to analyze and display duplicate, incomplete, and all contact lists.
- Write contacts: to delete contacts only when you select contacts and confirm deletion.
- Media deletion authorization: to request Android system approval before deleting selected photos, videos, or media files where required.
You can grant, deny, or revoke permissions in Android system settings. Some features may not work without the related permission.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve UpClean and its photo cleanup, video compression, and contacts organization features.
- Display scan results, media groups, thumbnails, previews, file sizes, video details, contact groups, and cleanup results.
- Delete or request deletion of photos, videos, contacts, or related data only when you choose to perform a deletion action and grant the required permission or system authorization.
- Save compressed video results to your device when you choose to compress a video.
- Maintain app reliability, debug issues, and improve app performance.
- Respond to support requests and privacy requests.
- Prevent abuse, security incidents, and technical problems.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.
Local Processing
UpClean is designed so that photo scanning, duplicate and similar matching, screenshot grouping, chat photo identification, video preview, video compression, and contacts organization run on your device. Local scan results, grouping information, compression results, and app preferences may be stored on your device to support the App's features.
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal files, photos, videos, contacts, or related content.
We may share information only in limited situations:
- With service providers that help us operate, secure, maintain, or support the App, if such services are used.
- With legal authorities or other parties when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, users, or the public.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your information.
If third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, remote configuration, or cloud services are added in the future, we will update this Policy as required and describe the relevant data practices.
Third-Party Services
The App may use Android system services and Google Play services provided by your device or app store environment. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies.
The App may also contain links or actions that open Android system settings, system share sheets, app stores, or other third-party services. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party services.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Local scan results, grouping information, compressed video files, app preferences, and cached app data may remain on your device until you refresh scan results, delete files, clear app data, use Android app settings, or uninstall the App. If you contact us, we may retain your message for as long as needed to respond, resolve issues, and comply with legal obligations.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children's Privacy
UpClean is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or a higher age where required by local law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
International Data Transfers
If you contact us or if information is processed by service providers, information may be processed and stored in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent.
You can manage many choices directly on your device:
- Android permissions: Settings > Apps > UpClean > Permissions.
- Photo and video access: Android Settings > Apps > UpClean > Permissions > Photos and videos.
- Contacts access: Android Settings > Apps > UpClean > Permissions > Contacts.
- App data deletion: Android Settings > Apps > UpClean > Storage > Clear data, or uninstall the App.

Data Safety Summary
- Data that may be accessed or processed: contact information you provide, device/app information, photo/media metadata, video metadata, contact names and phone-number information, local grouping information, compression results, and diagnostics needed to maintain the App.

- Local processing: photo matching, screenshot grouping, chat photo identification, video compression, and contacts organization are designed to run on your device.
- Data sharing: limited to service providers if used, legal requirements, or business transfers as described above. We do not sell personal files, photos, videos, contacts, or related content.
- Data deletion: you may clear local app data, revoke permissions, uninstall the App, delete selected items in the App, or contact us for privacy requests where applicable.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date above and may provide additional notice where required by law. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
