Rising Band students demonstrate intermediate or advanced proficiency on a Band instrument, often having graduated from the Genesis Band program or receiving private tutoring.

The Band director selects students to consider joining the Onsom Orchestra. Selection is based on ensemble balance and instrumentation need. CNY Drum Team is open to all Band musicians. Jazz Band is open to all Band musicians. View more about extra ensembles here.

Engage in teamwork and cooperation by working together to create and perform Instrumental music.
Refine listening, visual and aural literacy, increase technical skills and interpretation of music.
Develop and extend personal skills, habits, and processes for success in learning music.
Strengthen social skills and personal expression, and develop friendships, by being in “The Band”.
Commitment:
Course = 90 minutes per week
Personal Practice = 60 - 80 minutes per week.
