This course offers a dynamic experience where children can experiment with brass, wind and percussion instruments like Trumpet, Saxophone, Trombone, Flute and Snare Drum. Students rotate through these instruments to learn, enjoy, and share the fun of making music.
The program provides instruments and materials for learning, nurturing curiosity about musical instruments and the creation and science of music.
Band Basics serves as a stepping stone for students to enter the UP Band ASA Instrumental Music Program or engage in community music activities for pleasure.
Commitment
Course = 45 minutes per week
Home practice or sharing of classwork achievements 15 -20 minutes per week.

Students concentrate on one wind instrument at a time, ensuring an understanding of the instrument characteristics, tone production and playing style.
Rhythmic percussion (Snare Drum) is embedded into each lesson.
The curriculum progressively enhances knowledge of music notation, rhythm, harmony and structure, as well as exploring music genres and styles.
Students engage in hands-on activities that connect scientific principles like sound waves and acoustics to their musical learning.
Learn band instrument concepts playing music, enhancing individual skills and teamwork. Playing together fosters personal expression, builds ensemble skills, and boosts confidence. Regular reports will track each student's progress and collaborative growth in music.
