Experience Summary

Dr. Hyung-Sup Jung received the M.S. degree in geophysics in 1998 and the Ph.D. degree in remote sensing in 2007 from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Geoinfomatics at the University of Seoul. He is also serving the Korean Journal of Remote Sensing (KJRS) as an Editor-in-Chief and the IEEE Geosience and Remote Sensing Letters as an Associate Editor. His primary research interests cover the development of algorithms related to 1) deep learning network for remote Sensing applications, 2) synthetic aperture radar (SAR), SAR interferometry (InSAR), multiple-aperture InSAR (MAI) and multi-temporal InSAR (MTInSAR), 3) automated geometric correction of multi-sensor images, and 4) multi-sensor image processing and fusion, thermal remote sensing and multi-temporal optical and thermal sensing. He has been developing algorithms for remote sensing applications related to 1) Remote sensing applications using Deep Learning, 2) 3D deformation mapping by combining MAI and InSAR, 3) 2D surface velocity estimation by combining MAI and along-track interferometry (ATI), 4) MAI-based ionospheric correction of radar interferograms, 5) multi-sensor fusion by the integration of optic and SAR, SAR and thermal and optic and thermal images, 6) automated geometric correction for optic and SAR images, and 7) Earth's surface variation monitoring such as urban subsidence monitoring, glacier monitoring, volcano monitoring, deforestation monitoring, forest mapping, forest fire mapping and snow depth estimation.

  1. Three-Dimensional Deformation Map Related to the 2017 North Korea Nuclear Test

The three-dimensional deformation map was retrieved by using the two ALOS PALSAR-2 stripmap interferometric pairs that acquired from the ascending (20170829_20170912) and descending (20170831_20170928) orbits. For this, the ascending and descending LOS and AT deformations were created from the pairs by the multi-kernel offset method, and then three-dimensional deformation field was retrieved from the ascending and descending LOS and AT deformations.

Please find the zip file including def_x.tif, def_y.tif and def_z.tif. The unit of the map is centimeter. The coordinate system of the map is geodetic with the WGS84 ellipsoid.
