Coin Vortex

Purpose:
To demonstrate conservation of angular momentum as the radius of rotation changes.

Description:
A coin funnel similar to the larger ones sometimes seen in malls. Release a coin near the top of one of the side ramps and watch its speed increase as it spirals around the funnel in circles of progressively smaller radii.

Equipment:
Coin vortex (there should be a quarter in the base of the funnel)
