Purpose:
Allow students to experience the change in torque when a force is moved further from the pivot point.
Description:
Have students use the Allen wrench to turn the bolt first with the Allen wrench vertical and then horizontal. Make sure students exert the force at the end of the wrench in both arrangements.
Variation: Use a spring scale to measure the force required to turn the wrench in each configuration.
