Purpose:
To demonstrate how a massive object will avoid large accelerations.
Description:
Quickly pulling the tablecloth out and down will slide it out from under the vase/candle leaving the vase/candle standing on the table.
Lay the tablecloth out flat on the table so that one end hangs over the edge of the table and place the vase with pebbles and flowers or the candle in the center of the tablecloth. (The pebbles in the vase are to add mass necessary for the demo to work.)
Smooth out any folds or wrinkles behind the vase or candle.
Quickly yank the tablecloth out and down. It should slide out from under the vase/candle.
