Purpose: 

To demonstrate the thermal expansion of a metal.

Description:
Use the ball and ring set that fit together at room temperature and heat the ball so that it expands no longer fits inside the ring. Then, use the other ball and ring set that does not fit together at room temperature and heat the ring so that the ball can fit through it.

Equipment:
2 Ball and Ring sets, Bunsen burner or blow torch, matches
