PIRA Class: 2B40.59
Purpose:
Students will be able to explain, on the molecular level, how heating and cooling affect the density of water.
Description:
Place cold water (~22 C) in one beaker and warm water (~35 C) in one beaker. Placing the density ball in the cold water should cause it to float slightly and placing it in the warm water should cause it to sink.
Equipment:
Density ball, hot and cold water, 2 beakers, thermometer, kettle to heat water
