Purpose:
To observe the opposing magnetic forces produced by the eddy currents in a aluminum ring placed in a alternating magnetic field.
Description:
Generate a current in a ring about a vertical transformer.
- Observe the opposing magnetic fields.
- Note the heat generated in the ring due to the electric current.
- Light a small light bulb with the generated current.
- Note the effect a small slit in the ring has on the current flow.
