Electricity & Magnetism: 10/20/40 Coils & Magnet

PIRA Class: 5K10.21

Purpose: 

To observe the dependence a solenoid's number of coils has on the current generated by a nearby moving magnet. 

Description: 

Induce currents of varying magnitude by passing a magnet back and forth through different coil wraps.

The number of coils in each set are, respectively, 10, 20, and 40. Observe the current to double each time the number of coils is doubled.

NOTE: Make sure magnet is strongly magnetized and all connections are good before using this equipment.
