Electricity & Magnetism: Jumping Wire

Purpose: 

To demonstrate the force on a current carrying wire that is situated within a magnetic field. 

Description: 

Pass current through a wire hanging between the pole of a strong horseshoe magnet.

- Current ~9 amps, Voltage 

- Do not leave switch on

- Magnets N and S poles are marked. Reverse current or turn magnet over to change the direction of the force.
