Purpose:
To provide a visual for understanding the difference in charge flow/ resistance for two resistors connected in series vs. parallel.
Description:
Identical light bulbs are connected in various series and parallel connections and their relative brightness is predicted by the students before the circuit is closed.
VARIATION: Connect two light bulbs with different wattages in series and in parallel and predict which bulb will be brighter in each case.
Equipment:
Series/Parallel bulb board (large or small), 6V battery, Wires
Location:
Shelf 312 (small series/parallel bulb board) or 311 (large series/parallel bulb board), wires near 500s, 6V battery in front cabinet
