natbib defines its own version of the basic styles called plainnat.bst, abbrvnat.bst and unsrtnat.bst.It also allows support for URL, DOI, and ISBN fields in .bib files, which is not included in standard LaTeX.The .bst files generated by custom-bib are compatible with natbib, which means that there are a lot of .bst files to choose from.

First off, not all the packages used will be present and will need to beinstalled. Probably the easiest way to do this is to google the package namewith the extension .sty and save this file in the C:\VTEX\l2e\\ directoryof your machine. Note that for the natbib package, you will also need todownload the relevant .bst file, which in this case is unsrtnat.bst.

Currently I am submitting an article to the Canadian Journal of

Physics and it requires the use of the Natbib package with a style

like unsrtnat.bst. So far I have managed to get along fine with

almost everything except one small detail...The journal requires that

any entry with more than 6 authors be reduced to:First Author et al.In the text itself BibTeX and natbib do what I expect them too and

reduces the autor list to "et al".However, in the REFERENCES section, the FULL list of authors is given.

Is there a way to alter the BibTeX entry so as to conform to the

journal guidelines? (I have tried to enter "et al." as an author but

this produces First Author AND et al....)Is there a better .bst to use perhaps with natbib that still produces

the unsrt "style"? (and there is no nrc.bst I can find, only an

nrc.sty file for the manuscript itself.)Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.Cheers,Tyler

The natbib package allows for the use of textual (\citet) or parenthetical (\citep) citations (see website for examples). Revised bibliography styles must also be used and three of the more common are plainnat.bst, abbrvnat.bst and unsrtnat.bst. They correspond to the standard .bst styles but are configured to work with natbib.
