Unscroll: Break Scroll Habits ("Unscroll," "we," "our," or "the app") is a digital wellbeing app that helps you set voluntary limits and Focus sessions for apps and websites you select.
Unscroll uses Apple's Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings frameworks after you grant permission.
Apple's Family Activity Picker provides privacy preserving tokens for the apps, categories, and websites you choose. Unscroll uses these tokens to apply your limits, display selected usage progress, and show shields. Unscroll does not receive browsing content, messages, passwords, or personal content inside the selected apps or websites.
Screen Time usage reports are processed on your device through Apple's Device Activity APIs and are shown only inside Apple's report view. Unscroll itself cannot read or export the exact minute counts from that report.
Unscroll does not send your exact Screen Time usage, selected app tokens, selected app names, selected categories, selected websites, or exact daily usage totals off your device. Anonymous analytics may include a coarse event indicating that the limit screen was opened. That event does not include the selected apps or exact usage minutes.
Unscroll may store the following locally on your device or in its private app group:
• Your selected app, category, and website tokens
• Daily limit and Focus settings, your chosen Focus sound and volume
• Onboarding answers and progress
• Daily limit outcomes, such as whether the limit was reached and whether you used your earned free pass
• Streaks, milestones, free pass state, and how many of today's free Focus minutes were used
• Whether your Focus Premium subscription is active, as last verified by Apple, so the app works offline
This information is used to operate the features you request.
Focus Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription (weekly or annual) that removes the daily cap on Focus sessions and adds more Focus sounds. It is processed by Apple through StoreKit. Unscroll does not receive or store your full payment card or banking information. Apple provides verified transaction details, such as the product, purchase and expiration dates, so the app can confirm whether the subscription is active. You manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
Your daily limit, staying blocked, 60 free Focus minutes a day and ending a Focus session early are free for everyone. Unscroll never charges you because a limit was reached or a goal was missed. Every purchase starts with your action and requires confirmation through Apple.
Earlier versions offered one-time purchases of 15 minutes of temporary access. They are no longer sold. Apple keeps the record of past purchases.
Unscroll uses Adapty to understand how Focus Premium subscriptions are doing, for example how many people subscribe, renew, or cancel. Apple still processes every purchase, and Unscroll checks with Apple itself whether your subscription is active. Adapty never makes a purchase and never decides whether Focus Premium is on.
After Apple verifies a Focus Premium purchase or renewal, the app reports that transaction to Adapty. Adapty may receive the subscription product, purchase, renewal, expiration and refund details, transaction identifiers, price and currency, your App Store subscription history for Unscroll, a random Adapty identifier for this installation, Apple's identifier for vendor, device and app information such as the app and operating system version and locale, and network information such as an IP address.
Unscroll also gives Adapty the random Google Analytics identifier for this installation, so Adapty can send subscription events, such as a purchase, renewal, or refund with its product, price, and currency, to our Google Analytics. Unscroll does not set a user ID in Adapty, does not collect advertising identifiers through it, and never sends Screen Time data, payment card details, or contact information to Adapty. Adapty processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Release versions of Unscroll use Sentry for crash and diagnostic data. Crash reports may include technical information such as app version and build, operating system version, device model, and crash stack traces.
Performance tracing, session replay, screenshots, and view hierarchy capture are turned off. Sentry is configured not to send default personal information such as IP addresses. Development builds send no crash reports.
Unscroll does not intentionally attach Screen Time selections, Screen Time usage reports, payment details, or content from other apps to crash reports. Diagnostic data is used only to maintain reliability and fix problems.
Unscroll uses Google Firebase Remote Config to receive app settings such as the addresses of its help and privacy pages and whether an app update is required.
To deliver these settings, the app periodically contacts Google's Firebase servers. These requests may include a random Firebase installation identifier, the app identifier and version, the operating system version, device region, language, time zone, and network information such as an IP address.
This information is not linked to your identity. Unscroll does not require an account. Remote Config is separate from analytics.
Unscroll does not use Firebase Crashlytics or advertising identifiers. Screen Time selections and exact Screen Time usage are never sent to Firebase. Google processes this data under its Firebase terms and privacy policies.
Unscroll sends anonymous product interaction events to help us understand which parts of the app are useful. These events are limited to the predefined, privacy-safe values described below and are never used for advertising.
Unscroll may send events such as:
• That the app was opened, and which onboarding step, screen, or sheet you opened
• Which in-app action you chose, such as saving your plan or opening the sound picker
• Whether onboarding was completed
• Whether notification permission was allowed or denied
• Whether you started or ended a Focus session, its duration as a coarse range, and whether today's free Focus minutes were used up
• Which Focus sound you picked or previewed, and whether playback was interrupted
• Whether you changed your plan
• Whether the daily limit screen was shown
• Whether you chose to remain blocked
• Whether the Focus Premium screen was opened and why, which plan you selected, and whether a purchase or restore was started, completed, cancelled, pending, or failed
Values sent by Unscroll are limited to predefined choices or coarse ranges. Examples include weekly or annual, a daily limit range, a selection count range, a Focus duration range, or a range of free Focus minutes left.
Analytics events created by Unscroll never include:
• Names of selected apps, categories, or websites
• Screen Time tokens or exact Screen Time usage
• Exact usage minutes or exact event times as custom parameters
• Product or transaction identifiers, prices, or error messages
• Payment card or banking details
• Your name, email address, or other contact information
• Advertising identifiers
Google Analytics uses a random identifier for this installation of the app. Google may also receive the app version, operating system version, device language, and network information. Google may derive an approximate location from the IP address.
Google Analytics may automatically record app opens, sessions, app updates, operating system updates, and purchase history. If Google observes an App Store purchase, this may include the product identifier, price, and currency. Unscroll does not send payment credentials to Google.
Unscroll does not set a user ID. Analytics data is not used for advertising, is not used to track you across apps or websites, and is not linked to your identity. Google signals and ads personalization are not enabled. Advertising consent remains denied. Widgets and other app extensions do not send analytics.
Earlier versions had an analytics switch that was off by default. Analytics is now part of the app for everyone, limited to the anonymous events described above. If you prefer not to share them, you can delete the app.
Unscroll does not use your Screen Time data for advertising. Unscroll does not sell your personal information. Unscroll does not use advertising trackers and does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
We share data only as necessary to provide and maintain the app:
• Apple: Screen Time authorization and frameworks, App Store distribution, and the optional Focus Premium subscription
• Adapty: Verified Focus Premium transactions, subscription history, and the identifiers and device information described above, used for subscription analytics
• Sentry: Limited technical crash and diagnostic data from Release builds
• Google Firebase Remote Config: The installation identifier and device and app information described above, used to deliver app settings
• Google Analytics for Firebase: The anonymous events and information described above, used to understand and improve the app
• Legal and safety: Information if required by applicable law or necessary to protect rights, safety, and security
We do not share Screen Time selections or exact Screen Time usage reports with advertisers or data brokers.
Local app data remains on your device until you reset relevant settings, remove selections, or delete the app, subject to normal device backups and Apple's platform behavior.
Diagnostic information is retained only as reasonably necessary for reliability and security, according to our service provider settings and legal obligations.
Analytics event data is retained in Google Analytics for up to 2 months and is then deleted according to the configured Google Analytics retention setting. Some aggregated reports may remain without directly identifying an individual installation, as described by Google's policies.
You can:
• Decline or revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings
• Change or clear selected apps, categories, and websites
• Change or disable your Unscroll plan
• Remain blocked without making a purchase, and end any Focus session early for free
• Cancel Focus Premium at any time in your Apple Account subscription settings
• Delete Unscroll to remove its locally stored app data, subject to device backups
• Contact us with support or privacy questions
Revoking Screen Time authorization may prevent Unscroll's core limiting and reporting features from working.
Unscroll is intended as a self directed digital wellbeing tool and is not designed for covert monitoring. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our own servers. Apple's family purchase approval and account controls may apply to purchases.
We use platform security features and reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information processed by the app. No system can guarantee absolute security.
If you use Unscroll outside the country where its developer operates, technical diagnostic data and anonymous analytics data may be processed in countries where service providers operate, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Unscroll changes. We will update the effective date and publish the revised policy at this URL.
